We went to this pub for a carvery just before the run up to Christmas (as we have been doing so for years) and was shocked at how downhill it has gone. I read somewhere in the Local Paper that it was under new management? REALLY!!! Shame because the old landlord imo was much better! Sunday carvery mmm hot roast and a nice cold glass of beer⦠Er NO think again - the food was cold, my beer was flat and the service was absolutely atrocious. We sat waiting for ages for a drinks order to come that never came (only 4 drinks ā me the other half and 2 kids). We was going to have a desert but gave up on that idea... then when it came to pay the waitress just totally vanished? I would have liked to have just walked out and gone (because obviously the food was Free?). But as I am a Police Officer we decided to go up to the bar and pay. Then after paying told the Manager about the bad experience we had just had, expecting some form of apology! But instead was just greeted by some jumped up Chav (āthe managerā) who told us āif you donāt like it mate there are plenty of other pubs in the areaā. I have been visiting this pub as a regular for years on and off and was disgusted by the BAD Customer Service. I will never visit this place again, so long as it is under this management. If you are after a nice meal and friendly service in the local village - check out The Chequers... a Far Superior...
Read moreI will start with the positives. The staff were very attentive and the pub was very clean. There were infortunatly a few negatives. I booked Sunday lunch here as it was suggested on the open table app as a family pub; unfortunatly we as a family with 4 children were sat next to two tables of rather drunk and incredibly foul mouthed young men. Although the portion sizes where satisfactory the food itself was massively overpriced for the quality. Each dish had something that someone found unpalatable including reheated mash potato, undercooked pastry, slimy mushrooms and dry/burnt chocolate brownies. At a little under £4 for a cola drinks were a little extortionate. I also was not particularly impressed to find that the service charge added was over 10%. I would never leave a restaurant without tipping (between 10% and 25% depending on the quality of the meal and service); however, I do not agree that I should be 'told' how much to tip, especially given the fact that I was not overly impressed with the meal. Needless to say I will not be returning or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here as a large family gathering last week. Server the moment we came in had attitude and was rushing us despite not another customer in site, loosely guided us to our table, forgot one of our seats and we had to rearrange furniture due to the lack of space for said party, after asking permission to move said furniture she popped her head in and left, without a word. Disinterested in asking us for our drinks or anything alike and would leave any second she could. I understand as a hospitality worker it's exhausting but a little goes a long way. Had a male server later on in the booking who was lovely and attentive despite my nephew crawling around the empty space. Food was average, no christmas food at all was disappointing but the food we recieved was okay, some dishes cold. Was okay, wouldn't...
