Bizarre behaviour. We booked in advance for 2 children and 4 adults. Had reviewed the menus prior to booking and knew there was no children's menu available which was fine. Asked to order certain elements of the full English breakfast for the children so we didn't waste food. We did not question the pricing as we weren't fussed by this and assumed they would price as needed. We initially asked for beans, egg and sausage and were told they didn't have beans which was okay with us until the waitresses next comment was but we could do beans on toast, or a sausage butty or a egg on toast (all three elements we had asked for, but in three different meals). Obviously we were a bit taken a-back considering we were just told "we dont do beans". Logically, I struggled to understand why each of these meals could be purchased but we couldn't pay for food that the children would eat. Upon querying this the waitress couldn't answer so we opted for the Full English and unfortunately wasted the mushrooms, black pudding and tomato's as well as the additional sausage which was a bit of a shame. The breakfast arrived, knowingly for a child given the order debacle, covered in salt and pepper. Absolutely no issue with that for an adult but not ideal for a child. Another party member left a review due to the blunt service we received initially which they arewell within their rights to do so. Our whole table was then confronted infront of a full restaurant by Mr Micheal, who clearly was not informed of the initial conversation as he was under the impression we had demanded tinned beans which certainly was not the case. It would have been more professional to either not confront us or ask if everything was okay and get an actual understanding of the situation. Food was nice and cakes looked great but was put off by the way the simple ask of 'could we please have a, b and c for our child so as not to waste the remainder of the brunch" was dealt with. A simple and polite explanation would have been preferable in the first instance.
Despite having highchairs and accepting a booking with children, I think the combination of not understanding a simple request for items on the menu and being willing to confront our table in such a manner, infront of our children, would confirm its not the most child...
Read moreMy vegan husband and I were taking a friend out for breakfast to a different establishment who called to cancel last minute due to staff sickness. I was following Greendale on Facebook so rang to ask if they could offer any vegan breakfast options and as they could we visited them instead. As it turns out I think the place cancelling did us a favour as we had a fabulous time at Greendale. The staff were lovely and helpful, they have oat milk and plant based butter and could veganise some of the dishes. We had overnight oats with raisins, hazelnuts and grated apple, mushrooms on toast and toast with marmalade and our friend had scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms. We had a chat with chef Michael who was very enthusiastic about offering more vegan options and asked us for ideas. He said they made as much as possible like the bread on site and you could tell it was homemade. The food was fresh, cooked to order and absolutely delicious, the overnight oats were better than the ones I make! The coffee was so good we had two large Americanos each which says a lot as my husband is very fussy about coffee. The views of the Ribble Valley are spectacular and I cannot wait to return and try more of the vegan options Michael has in...
Read moreWe were 5 adults, two toddlers and a dog and had a wonderful lunch. Our table was ready with two high chairs set up and the staff were so welcoming to us all. It's a lovely location, stunning views which you can even see from inside. We all ordered a variety, the Bowland Breakfast, Lancashire Rarebit and Sea Trout. All were really delicious and you can tell it's all fresh produce. They don't have a children's menu as such but they were super accommodating choosing from the normal menu and both children had the pancakes with butter and fruit compote. They were freshly made and so fluffy and they ate it all and loved it. Much better to find fresh food made for children than frozen oven options which most places offer. We all had a scone with jam and clotted cream which were also delicious. They also catered for a gluten free meal too which was great. Overall, a lovely experience and will definitely go back when we're next in the area. Thanks so much for being so kind and accommodating to busy parents and...
