Nice atmosphere, decor is dated but part of the charm, although the black emergency lighting and cable in the main seating area looks a mess.
We were disappointed during our visit. We waited a while for our food and a lady asked us who had served us when she noticed we had been waiting too long, which was good to follow this up.
The food was brought out and we didn't receive an apology for our longer than expected wait but we wasn't that fussed about that at all, we knew they were busy and I'm only mentioning this because of the attitude of the landlady.
Our food was mostly really nice, my mushroom soup was home made and I really enjoyed it.
Now I know it's only a bowl of chips but they were definitely cut really small or dog ends from the bottom of the bag or something, this made them really oily and would have gave me the shits.
I politely told the landlady they were too small and oily, so she took them away and casually said. "Oh ok" as she walked off with them and presumably chucked them in the bin. Didn't come near us again to offer an apology, refund, new chips of a normal size and edible or anything.
It was clear in her opinion they were acceptable being the size of the dog end at the bottom of the bag and wanted to get away with having to refund us and admit they were mingin.
We were polite and didn't make a fuss or complain any further.
It seemed like the old bat was too long in the tooth to be reasonable and had taken from us, not a lot of money but still annoying to be treated like that. Especially as we had previously spoken to her she seemed friendly enough. Really disappointing and we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have just moved to the local area so still finding our way round. We have not been very successful while looking for a nice eatery but that ended last night when we made our first visit to the Bull's Head.
Myself ordered a Fillet Steak, medium with new potatoes and extra salad followed by black forest gateaux.
Partner ordered Sirloin Steak, rare with new potatoes and mushy peas followed by sticky toffee pudding.
Food was amazing! Really really nice, and certainly one place we will no doubt spend quite a bit of our earnings at.
Atmosphere was great! Relaxed, clean, bright and no drunk idiots propping the bar up.
Price is ever so slightly on the expensive side but I can see why, because of the pubs location I doubt they get as busy as other town pubs.
The couple extra quid is certainly noticed though over other places we have eaten, and if the cost is within a couple quid I'm more than happy to pay that.
Well done to the Bull's Head for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for sunday dinner today, immediately didn't feel welcome by the woman who 'greeted' us who we later found out was one of the owners. Sat down and ordered drinks, drinks arrived ok. We then sat there for 20-25 minutes without being served. We asked her if we should order at the bar to which she replied I'm coming now with a snotty attitude. 5 minutes later she came to the table and went to take our order, but we had, had enough and asked for the bill. Was excited to try the food with lots of good reviews but sadly didn't get to have the chance. Also wifi password isnt available and there is no signal there so if you have young children who want wifi then be warned you cant. 1/5 would not come...
