Il Vecchio — Restaurant in Rochdale

Last night 31/07/2024 I attended Il Vecchio with five friends. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff and shown to our table. The waiter came over when all guests had arrived to take our orders and that is where it all started to go wrong. The waiter was the rudest person we have ever been served by and we all eat out a lot. He was abrupt did not listen looked angry and despite one of the party asking for a Margarita pizza with no ham just mushrooms he did not listen so she repeated the order to him. When he read the order back to us she had to correct him ‘no ham just mushrooms’ when our meals arrived her pizza came with ham and no mushrooms despite telling him three times, he was just not listening. She then had to sit and watch us eat until they corrected her order. It was the worst experience we as a group have ever had, we go out together for a meal every month but will NOT be visiting this restaurant again They did not even offer my friend a drink whilst she sat watching us eat. Il Vecchios is a beautiful restaurant in Heywood with impeccable service, the most authentic & tastiest Italian food and a wonderful pleasant atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I eat here a lot, they also offer a takeaway service - great for when we don't feel like dressing up. Its our go-to whenever we want good food and service that we can rely on 100% of the time.

The staff honestly make this place. The servers, bar staff and manager always have a smile on their faces. Keen to cater to your needs and will happily make pleasant conversation.

Pricing is very reasonable, for the 2 of us we typically spend about £30 each, that's for a starter, main and drinks - We sometimes have a desert but the portion sizes are very generous so we are usually quite full after our main or having it boxed up to take home, its too good of food to waste.

We visited recently for the early bird menu . Starters were lovely . I ordered the cannelloni which initially looked OK, but however as I got closer to the middle of the dish was concerned as the meat looked pink. I told the waitress who took it back to the kitchen and returned with it , telling me that the 3 chefs had inspected it and it was the sauce that had coloured the meat , also that it had been cooked for 9 hours . The waitress was apologetic and offered me a dish to take out ( my friend had finished their meal ) I declined as I felt a bit off after sampling what looked like raw meat in parts .
