As it was such a lovely day yesterday, I decided to have a walk up the canal with my sidekick to get a drink and some tea at the Hopwood arms. It was just after 4 and the place was very busy. Managed to get a table with enough space for my daughters wheelchair to fit. After 2 pints, I ordered barbecue ribs and garlic mushrooms for my starter off the specials board and rump steak for my main. The starters were delicious and good large portion sizes and the rump steak was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be returning and all you dog lovers can take your dogs here, as dogs are very welcome

The Hopwood is a warm and inviting pub with a good mix of classic and modern dishes on the menu. The food was great – fresh, well presented, and served hot. Portions were generous without being over the top. Staff were friendly and attentive without hovering. The space is clean and nicely decorated, with plenty of seating inside and a decent outdoor area for warmer days. It’s a good spot for a casual meal with family or friends, and there’s usually a relaxed atmosphere even when it’s busy. Parking is easy and the location is convenient just off the main road.

Took my Rotweiler a few times, it's nice to go in a pub with a big dog and people don't look down on him. The staff give him treats and come and stroke him, always a filled water bowl. Great food & they do dog Sunday dinners which go down a treat for £2.50 & a lovely normal roast dinner too. The food menu has a lot of variety. Brilliant view of the canal from the carpark. We love it here

Disgusting service the staff really need to work on their customer skills. My son had a can of pop in the beer garden who is only 11 years old, I didn't even know he had opened this and wouldn't of let him as we know your not allowed to bring in your own pop, anyway the young staff spotted him marched over and grabbed the pop from him and quite aggressive said don't drink that in here! I asked the lad to not snatch from my lad and to speak to me as I'm his parent over 16 years old and I would of dealt with this by taking it from him or putting it in the bin. There were 17 of us which came from a football match with the kids, we did come in to eat but they stopped food early aswell.

After the lad snatched from my son I went to see a manager and spoken to the young lad first and told him he should not snatch off a young but he wouldn't listen, he spoken back to me not nice then the man in charge shouted at me that I should be coming in the pub in the winter not just when the sun is out and said something about the colour of my skin, the way the both of them spoken to me was disgusting! I told him we are leaving and got the rest of our group. When I was leaving the man in charge was outside, I said to him I get his rules but you can't have your staff snatching from children, he didn't ChecK his cctv, I think he should and will see exactly what others seen. His tone was much nicer at this point though but I think it was the fact that the guys who was with our group was there then, so he totally changed how he spoken to me, my husband did tell him but what does he expect the way he treated his son and me! The young lad came out and again she dbt help himself, the pub is full of young staff and him as a boss letting them disrespect people is not what I would want for my kids. The table at our side who we didn't even know also witnessed him snatching and said it was disgusting what just happened. He never asked for my Email like he has responded below to another bad review, he was just utter rude and got told in the end by a man which he deserved after being rude and cocky to a woman. This pub years ago was so friendly but now you can feel the tension coming in, such a shame. Check your cctv and try welcoming your paying customers who keep your business running with a smile!!! I actually feel sorry for your...

The pub has great potential however I would not recommend visiting under current management. All hot beverages come out a cheap coffee machine using Pods. Even teas and chocolate. Lack of wine selection. Standard beer selection. Very poor food quality. Staff is inexperienced. It seems that it's run by a family. Edited: I never add to a review or explain everything in a detail however I just read the replies of the business on mine and on other not so favourable reviews and are shameful, misleading, utter lies. They do serve food and it's bad. our friends that returned the food didn't eat more than a bite that was enough to taste. I also tasted it. they also messed up our order and had to replace it. It was not a busy time. Not returning my food doesn't mean I am happy with it. The owner mentioned that there was a new chef in the kitchen. they also mentioned that they serve Sunday roast at 12. while waiting for my coffee, 2 customers walked in for the roast and they've been told that it would be ready in 2 hours. They are constantly out of stock on drinks and wines. Underaged staff behind the counter taking orders. And you don't call the coffee "Costa grade" just because the cheap super market pod is named Costa. Trying to discredit your customers is not the best practice when you run a business and certainly they won't give your business another chance that you so much...

So we arrived and was OK until we ordered food was waiting ages well over an hour and I wouldn't mind when we ordered there wasn't many people in there 🙄 food was OK but wouldn't eat hear again my partner got the curry and it was like a kids meal 🙄.. Took my daughters food outside and the woman literally grabbed her food from her and said she can't ear out side she didn't even give me chance to think wasn't until after I'd realised what had just happend think coz I was so shocked.. I didn't no they wasn't allowed food out side but my daughter is 3 years old and likes to pick at it. the women didn't even offer for us to take it with us 😠 I was so shocked the way she dealt with it I went back and spoke to her after and her husband got involved and was just totally desrespectful and didn't care one bit even after telling them my daughter had additional needs! They are short staffed to only was taking orders for food for an hour then they stopped Coz they couldn't handle all the orders at once 😂🙄 Will never come hear again honestly only good thing they had a good play area that's it but even that could be done up...
