New Spice Authentic Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant & Takeaway — Restaurant in Rother

We recently moved to the area and had been recommended this restaurant by a few people that do not live in the immediate area, so we thought we would give it a try...

The quality of the food is really good; there is a lot of range, and the ingredients are clearly fresh and of decent quality.

The staff are great; they are really friendly and provide great service. On multiple occasions now they have accommodated our requests for items not even on the menu, and one staff member (unfortunately I do not know his name) made my partner his own recipe for a spicy sauce especially for her meal, which was really good! They do not need to do these things, but they always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

The restaurant itself has a warm and cosy vibe. It isn't particularly big, but that adds to the ambiance.

There is also a loyalty scheme that allows you to get a discount after collecting stickers from repeat custom, which is a nice little extra.

We haven't lived in the area long, but have already eaten here enough times that all of the staff recognise us and welcome us. We have taken multiple family members here and they too have enjoyed it as much as we have.

I moved to the area 2 months ago, never usually order Indian but it is the ONLY take out option around. I've struggled over the years to find a decent Indian but the struggle is over! Only 2 months of living in Robertsbridge and me and my partner have ordered from here around 5+ times. Tonight was the first night we dined in, and the experience only got better.

The staff are INCREDIBLE, I wanted something SPICY after the vindaloo wasn't spicy enough for me previously, they said I couldn't handle the spiciest curry on the menu and recommended a hot curry with a side of the spiciest curry they do but only the sauce, which I'm glad they told me as I wouldn't of been able to handle that sauce in a full curried meal. The curry with the side of spicy sauce was just perfect! A meal fully catered to my taste!

They have soo many options and if that isn't good enough for you, they even mention they will make a meal for you that isn't on the menu if you suggest it. They have fully covered every single persons food preference. You will not walk away disappointed or unsatisfied!

I don't care that Uber eats aren't available where I live. I don't care that this is the only food delivery in the area....

I travelled down to New Spice today with my wife after reading all the positive reviews online. I ordered a starter and my wife was saving herself for the main. The food was sub standard but I kept my opinion to myself in hope the main would make up for it. Once the main arrived I took one bite and it was bland and the meat dry, but yet again I kept my opinion to myself. My wife then says her dish is luke warm and tasteless, so I tried a bit of hers and vice versa. They where both dreadful!!

When eating out you may get the odd bad dish here and there, but tonight New Spice scored a hat trick.

This is the first time I have ever actually informed a restaurant that the food was so bad and I wished to pay for the drinks we had and leave.

In summary the service was slow, restaurant dated and food very poor.

"You just didn't want to pay" We didnt eat any of the food, hence not paying for it. I find it very rude that you said that.

The table next to use also said their food was not the best, but perhaps they where to polite to mention it.
