Came to this establishment with a friend who struggles with a speech impediment.

Despite being one of the most sober of the group, in the lady behind the bar decided to cut my friend off after feeling she had “had enough”. She had two drinks the whole night.

My friend tries to explain her speech impediment, but the lady did not believe her when she explained it was a disability. My friend then asked to see the manager to discuss it further. The manager was also unfortunately not very understanding either. Feeling frustrated and insecure about how her speech was being percieved, my friend asks her partner to take over talking to the manager while we go outside and finish our drinks before we can leave.

The next morning my friend leaves a very well deserved bad review on Facebook. The manager then decided to take it upon herself to reply to said review that it was clear to her that my friend had definitely had enough to drink and that “based on how she spoke to the members of staff she would be served no longer”.

She was not rude or aggressive towards members or staff at all, she simply felt frustrated and upset that they didn’t take her seriously when she tried to explain her speech impediment and we left soon after.

She is allowed to show agitation and annoyance at discrimination towards a disability she cannot control, the fact the manager would even reply to make comments about “how she was speaking” further is absolutely shocking.

If your staff expects to be treated with kindness and respect, they really should be practicing that within their customer service themselves.

My partner and I popped in on a Saturday afternoon as we'd seen the signs saying food was served Wednesday to Saturday and the reviews had looked good. When we arrived we were told "no we don't serve food today". Why do pubs do this? Advertise that they serve food on boards all around the outside of the pub then when you go inside the barstaff act like you are being weird for asking. Quick tip; Update your advertisements! Food and atmosphere is probably nice when they bother to serve it although the guy behind the bar didn't seem to know when...

We used to live round the corner from here and came in all the time. We recently came back with a few friends. One of our friends had been drinking less than we had but has a speech impediment and was refused service at the bar because she was "slurring her words". Aside from that, the lady who served us was generally rude to our group.

As I said, we were regulars but we won't be back now. They embarrassed our friend and left her in tears....
