Had the Sunday dinner, the best part was the veg. Carrot and swede mash was lovely and was the broccoli. The meat, I opted for the turkey was quite fatty round the edges. The roast potatoes weren't cooked properly, very under cooked and looked pale. More like boiled potatoes than roasts and there was much gravy. I get sticking the Yorkshire pudding on top looks 'aesthetic' but there's not enough gravy to soak up the dryness. The staff were very friendly though. They are all happy and polite. That's why I've given 3 stars. If the staff wasn't so nice, they'd have 1 star. The atmosphere isn't great. Seems very quiet and dull. Won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend for food. But if your only nipping in for 1 drink, it's ok.

We ate downstairs & had a superb homemade burger amongst other things from their own butchers. Be aware of the service charge. The pub has a very traditional feel with a large oval wooden bar, uniformed waiters, high ceilings & immaculate mirrors. Best of all for me though was the choice of a very well kept pint of Beamish ( very hard to come by in these parts or indeed anywhere these days). Its a far superior stout to the overly marketed, overly hyped but cleverly advertised you know who. Would definitely try more food & Beamish here next time I'm here.

The food is absolutely amazing there. The price is not bad for such big portion. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The place is nice to sit in even if you don't drink... Which I don't.

I have enjoyed 3 Meals at the Morning Star and I have invited My Son for a Birthday Meal and His Brother and My Grandson Tonight .Pleasant surroundings ,goodService all round ,great choice of Food ,well presented and Cooked to perfection ,good helpings of everything ,I was there Yesterday with Friends celebrating a Birthday and enjoyed it very much, there is a lovely space outside to sit and a good sized Car Park with ample Taxi space and Bus Stops in both directions right outside .I have to say that the Meat was tender both Chicken and Beef which I tried Yesterday and it just melted in Your Mouth ,because I have problems with digestion and chewing so it was a big plus for Me ,so all excellent in My opinion there is something on the Menu for Everyone ,see You again this Afternoon .I have been back since I wrote this Review with Lady Friends to have a Meal and once again the Service was faultless and friendly and the Meal was great ,something for Everyone I had the Fish and Chips this Time ,Fish huge ,Chips and Veg perfect , even when We messed the Order up and ordered extra Food by mistake it was all sorted ,no problem, full marks for Staff and Chef, the Morning Star deserve the...

Great service, excellent Sunday ½chicken roast, served hot & lots of veg, Traditional Holts pub nice & clean, friendly Bar staff, excellent pint of Two Hoots on draught. 3 meals took less than 30 mins from ordering to table all for £16:30 per head a fair price. It would cost more in time buying and preparing the ingredients and the cost of the energy used to cook it. We were first through the door at Midday so there was little atmosphere to begin with but at least the large TV was on but within 20 mins of arriving, families and couples arrived for their Sunday lunch. Why spend valuable time at home with all the pots and pans to look forward to washing after eating. Eating Sunday lunch away from home means quality time with Family & friends. It makes common sense to me. Highly reccomended, couldnt fault it. Compliments to the staff who even asked if we had any food allergies at the point...

Visited today with my friend and we had such a lovely meal. Main courses was absolutely gorgeous piping hot and so tasty I had the Steak and Cheese Baguette and my friend had the Steak Hanging Kebab could not fault it at all.

The Desserts were also Delicious my Vimto Eton Mess was amazing and the Chocolate Fudge Cake my friend had was gorgeous too.

Pub was spotless, all staff was lovely but would like to particularly mention Dylan who served us our food he was so lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him despite the pub getting busier as we was eating he made sure we was happy with everything and was very attentive he’s a credit to the company. Thank You Dylan!

Overall it was a lovely evening and we will definitely be...
