Well it was an "Obvious Con."
1st time we have used the "Collect/Take Away"
My Son went to collect 2 Regular Weekly Roast Dinners & 2 Large Roast Dinners with 2 Sides of Pigs in Blankets. He asked which was which prior to leaving as the Regular were for Myself & my Husband (Elderly 90 & 84). The Bag indicated as Regular: Our Son served ours, lots of Roast Potatoes!! Two Yorkshire Puds!! Chefs being Generous !! Lots of lovely Gravy. We went for 3 Meats on each, however, they were not equal quantities of each. There were more end chunks rather than slices. Rather difficult to eat with DENTURE'S !! We got a "Forlorn phone call" from my Son who with His Partner should have been "Tucking Into Large Roast Dinner with Sausage 2 Yorksshire Puddings & Pigs in Blankets" ..........Anybody guessing where the Mix up and "The Con" comes into it?
Firstly; the easy bit of Detective work is they Put the 'WRONG Roasts & Yorkshires' into the Wrongly Indicated Bag!! Secondly; a bit of Physics needed "The Con"
After Putting in a Sausage and the Side Portion of Pigs in Blankets USING The SAME SIZE container as a REGULAR Roast Dinner! How by the Miracle of MERLIN Do you Fit 3 Meats & VEGETABLES of a "LARGE ROAST DINNER INTO THE SAME SIZE CONTAINER ?"
By the Laws of Physics some thing has to GIVE !! AND THERE is the Con. You Buy a Large Roast Dinner. = Con Fill the area with Sausage & = Con Side Dish at EXTRA COST = Con to CUSTOMER £££ = Con Less Space for Meat & = Con Vegetable Selection. = Con
Kitchen Gross Profit Up as not as much Produce being used, for a higher Profit margin.
There was LESS Veg on the LARGE Meal than the REGULAR.
My Son phoned up and was Fobbed OFF.
Dear Owner, If you had read the review Properly, You would have Noted My son asked which was which from your Staff. Firstly your "Barman" Felt the bags and said he could normally tell as one's bigger than the other [Oh right, so what did he mean?] He took my Son Directly to your Pas where your Chefs are. They, THEY Opend the Order after it was "EXPAINED" about the "ORDER PLACED WAS GOING TO TWO HOUSEHOLDS" That Should have been: TWO (2) Regular to one Household x ONE (1) Brown Bag TWO (2) Large + Side Order of Pigs in Blankets x ONE (1) Brown Bag
As you can see from the REPLY it Doesnt own up to the use of the ....................
SAME SIZE TRAYS for both REGULAR and The LARGE TAKEAWAY MEALS?????????? You carnt Fit a Size 22" into an 16" You carnt Fit Three Quarters of a Pint into Half a Pint Glass !! (HMRC Weights & Measures Makes this Illegal. You Carnt Fit The amount of VEG For a LARGE ROAST and MEAT when you have put their side Portion OF PIGS IN BLANKETS IN THE TRAY FIRST !!!!!!!
So you have Been Conning People With Your TAKEAWAY ORDERS.
For How Long?
ALL TAKEAWAY BUYERS BEWARE !! YOUR LARGE ROAST DINNER TRAYS SHOULD HAVE MORE THAN 596cc (Correction) in the Larger of the two Sections. If anyone has their Old Containers.......Check the Base of the Plastic Tray for the Volume Capacity of the Trays. 596cc (Corrected as miss typed) is the Larger section of the Regular Roast Tray size. 284cc for the smaller section, Mash & cauliflower cheese.
For all the Short Servings, somebodys Making On It. Not...

Want to show my appreciation of the lovely; friendly caring staff, especially, this time , managers on duty Emma and Andy during my latest visit today.
I'd popped in for a light late breakfast from themenu ( where usually myself and partner Angie normally call in early doors for the local Stonehouse teams wonderful great value buffet help-yourself breakfasts after tge school run !
The standard of hospitality here is consistentky high, definely has the X factor and you're guaranteed a nice family feel, comfy relaxed atmosphere, food to a consistent high high standard . All the staff so professional, engaging , genuinely friendly and going the extra mile for you.
The place is always spotless and it's clear the team , all levels ,are happy, passionate about what they provide for customers.
Both Emma and Andy gave me helpful advice when I asked about possibility of takeaways( for Angie's elderly mum ) and so happy to learn about how that's done and the care that goes into that option. Also told about the app and the loyalty rewards for customers who join! Given a card with a Q code by Andy to make that a doddle registering.
Apologies for taking sneaky candids of the managers ( too engaged with customers to notice) - I've respectfully cropped out those they were serving. Thanks too, when later, having mislaid my debit card , I dropped in tonight . It has not been handed in but was asked for my number so if their cleaner colleague found it in the morning they could ring me ( mentioning she was a star , meticulous and thorough.
Later , when home I phoned just to flag up I'd found tge card hiding under my driver's seat . Damn those senior moments! )
Again had been treated as if I was family by another Andy , who is a resident chef there abd off duty- when enquiring about my card . Nice he remembered me- and my partner as regulars at bigger breakfast time! No wonder this is our first choice for our milestone family events , quality carvery, great value and genuinelyvfamily friendly.
Know lots of people who love this place- so wish more people would feed back to let the staff know they are appreciated . ( Seems to be a Brit thing only commenting negatively and only if they have a gripe about a business of service. You can be assured that if something is not to your satisfaction this team will go out of their way to ensure your experience is positive. ) thanks again guys- you...
Read moreI used to come here years ago and it used to be lush the roast potato’s was gorgeous the ones with the orange colour. I visited today for a meal with my family and I’ve never ever have I been so disgusted. I had paid for the full works and as I got up I asked if I could have a spare bowl so I could put my sons baby food on and he refused to let me even though I offered to pay for the bowl, I was given literally 1 of everything and the pigs in blanket was black. The meat was just full of fat and as people noticed the turkey had blood in they was questioned about it a few times while I stood there, never the less I avoided the turkey and sat down to eat. It was basic not like it used to be at all, so I eaten and then thought I would order desert mine was the rocky road and it had a tiny bit of ice cream and the rest was cream literally squirty cream and 3 pretzels and rock hard brownie and 3 marsh mellows, my daughter had unlimited ice cream to witch the machine didn’t work so we could not dispense it I asked for help off the chef and he came out tried it went back in and was laughing with the other chef and just left me thinking he was returning for 20 mins. My daughter is autistic so can’t stand there alone I had to do it for her meaning my dessert had melted anyway. I went to the bar and she came to help but once she got it fixed she walked away with the bowl and went off serving leaving me again for another 10 mins waiting I had to go back to the bar and remind her once again no apology no nothing I was dreading the calzone pizza I had ordered to take home for my son. We are home and my partner had been sick violently 6 times and he had the turkey so I’ve chucked the calzone in the bin £13 down the drain for the calzone alone Plus I’ve had to order from else where. I feel sick but haven’t been sick yet but now worried sick we have got food poising. I’m livid I loved this place what an absolute shame how bad it’s got. I’ll never been returning...
