Bosun's Table — Restaurant in Scotland

Use bosun's table regularly, location and food is good and staff are lovely usually however experienced very poor service at last visit. A staff member was extremely rude which was very disappointing. Ordered for takeaway and took over 15 mins for 2 drinks, as I was standing there with my crying baby I said to my mum, " God it's taking a while, 3 hours later" obviously being sarcastic (at this point we had not complained to staff or anything about the wait, just talking to each other, I have worked in hospitality for years and know how it can be) and the waitress walked past and butted in and said " actually you haven't been waiting 3 hours, your ticket only came on at such a such time! And your saying 3 hours!" . I said "excuse me I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to my mum.". How rude to speak like that to a paying customer who hadn't complained, standing with a screaming baby. I was obviously being sarcastic in a conversation to my mum and you could see I was struggling to settle my baby at the same time.Totally unacceptable and rude. So disappointing. My husband and I went in on my birthday for a late breakfast, the young girl serving us was lovely and very friendly we ordered 2 full breakfasts, the eggs were cooked as we had asked for and the blackpudding was delicious as was most of our breakfast except the slice sausage which were so hard and dried out we couldn't cut them with the knife. We said to the young lady who promptly took them back to kitchen, a few moment's later she returned with the same slice and we were told Chef couldn't do anything about it as it was the last of the block and did we want them back. The poor girl was mortified. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and I can't believe that Chef would keep food under a heat lamp for so long that it dries out to this level where you can knock it off the table. My sister and I have been going here for years for a snack whilst walking in Largs. Things haven’t been great this year, very limited choice of cakes in particular. We went there today around 1pm and asked if they had any scones, we were told that unfortunately they didn’t have any, when I went to have a look at which cakes they had I saw a basket at the top full of scones! Just as I mentioned this to my sister the waitress appeared saying that management had ordered that no scones be sold between 1200hrs and 2pm!!! Shocking that management in this cafe dictates what customers can and can’t order! We left and went to weatherspoons where we had what we wanted and it was lovely...
