We didn't know a restaurant was there since it didn't show on our map! The bar and restaurant is attached to the hotel, and so shows as just a hotel.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the menu, and the quality of the dishes were very nice.

We ordered the two Sunday specials, a roasted lamb and a roasted beef dish. The lamb was excellent, but the beef one was a bit tough. The appetisers, a mac in cheese with Mull cheese and the croquette with a poached egg were both really good.

Saw some burgers coming out, and they also looked excellent. The Islay Ale is very good too. No deserts ordered, unfortunately.

Worth to say that the staff there is quite pleasant too.

Note that there are timed slots for eating, and it is advised to make a reservation ahead of time. We would go there...

Went in on the off chance as we were passing and it turned out to be fully booked. That is fair enough and not unusual. However, we were hanging around in an empty dinning room and looking at the menus for several minutes while three members of staff ignored us before we were able to find this out. The place felt like a library where our kids wouldn't have had much fun ... so I was glad they had no space and I won't rush back. We've driven past a few times and this place looked friendly and worth a stop... perhaps we just caught the staff in the middle of sorting out some crisis but I...

Outstanding all around! The menu offered a good range of options to suit everyone, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. The food was beautifully presented, every bite delicious. We had the scallops (savory, rich but not too much), the crab salad (fresh, SO GOOD), the lamb shank (the meat fell of the bone, hands down the best meat I’ve ever eaten), and the earl gray creme brûlée with lemon shortbread (subtle but divine flavors). Service was flawless: prompt but not overbearing, friendly but professional. Highly recommended - this was one of the best meals...

True jewel of the island: We arrived without a reservation, but you should definitely make one as it can get very busy. We were lucky and got a table for an hour. Honestly, it was the best dining experiences I’ve had in Scotland so far. I had the soup of the day (asparagus cream) and the braised beef with an interesting Guinness sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious – 10/10. Starter plus main course plus beer came to less than £30 per person. If you’re exploring Islay, do yourself a favor and stop by this place – you won’t regret it 😀
