The café is another of those soulless places with no soft furnishings, so they're very loud. Pick your table, queue to order, then return to your table to discover that as you're a single person and they don't offer 'Reserved' notices, your table has been taken by a couple, and there's someone sitting there.... I had fish and chips, which was served with peas and homemade tartare sauce. The portion seemed enormous, two pieces of freshly cooked haddock on top of a pile of chips, with a bowl of peas and a tiny bowl of tartare sauce. The chips and the fish were very good, the batter light and perfectly cooked. There wasn't anywhere near enough of the tartare, and the peas were ghastly. Overcooked to the point of being wrinkled and yellow. Awful!

As the food is cooked to order, it took over 20 minutes to arrive. The batista should have warmed the coffee cup, it was c o l d before the food arrived. As I said, the place...

Only cafe open for breakfast. Ordered 2 sausages sandwiches, a tea and a latte. Was told it would be a few minutes wait. It was actually over 25 minutes wait! My husband had to leave me to wait, because we had to leave the motorhome site at 11. Only a few other people in the cafe and what appeared to be a local councillors meeting, so no excuse for the long wait. No apologies for the delay. Latte and tea were average. Sandwich was dry and had an awful smell. The dog...

Extremely busy on an August lunchtime- probably because it seemed to be the only café open. Queued for 5 minutes at counter. Server was polite and friendly, and did warn me that the hot food would take about 30 minutes due to being so busy. Food actually arrived in 20 minutes. Hot dog with chips and garnishes was actually declared to be very tasty with good quality sausage. A little on the pricey side but probably what you expect at such a touristy...

We last came to Café Groats around two years ago The food, the atmosphere, the scenery. Nothing disappoints here. The team are helpful. The service is excellent. What more could you want? We had the macaroni cheese and the locally caught fresh crab roll. They were beautiful, extremely fresh even the salad was fresh and exceeded expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely to Café Groats.

So lovely here! Myself and my dad always take a yearly trip up to John O’Groats and we love to pop into the cafe! The food is amazing! We love the fish and chips (as pictured!) the coffee is amazing! It’s so good and is always hot! You can get it to go which is fab if you want to take a walk around! The cafe is just lovely to sit and chill whilst having a cake and coffee! Would recommend!!!
