First time visiting since they had the refurb(a while ago now) and what a treat it was. Place is looking great. Atmosphere is welcoming. The staff are charming and so polite as if nothing is too much hassle! Pricing is a little more expensive than we thought, but you definitely pay for quality here, but the food was worth it. The dishes were delicious and served quite nicely. We enjoyed our meals from start to finish and will certainly be back, along with taking the wee man. Starters - Louisiana chicken (with hot sauce and mint) and a little garlic bread Shetland mussels - absolutely huge with a warm roll with butter, partner enjoyed them. Mains - minted lamb shank with veg with colcorean mash Combo meal pepperoni pizza and Mac n cheese Dessert - caramel apple pie with custard (though I nicked other half’s ice cream and they got my custard so it worked out) it was so light and went down a treat. Galaxy fudge cake with custard. Honestly it was wolfed down. Couple of drinks, with coffee and tea. Overall it was great and we will be back, the place, food and service were brilliant Very very impressed.

We had a party of 15, unfortunately they had to split us over 2 tables but it was fine. We were there around 14:30 on a Saturday and the service was excellent. They handled all our orders and the food was great. I did notice they had 2 different sizes of some dishes, which were obviously priced differently but when my son and I ordered fish & chips, at each size, while the plates were smaller, the actual portion size seems identical, so consider what you order. Our total bill was around £350 for 15 people which was spread over some starters, all mains and drinks. Great value and would happily go back

Wedding evening reception was perfect. Can’t thank everyone at Carrigans enough for making our wedding day and evening celebrations perfect for us. We loved working along with all the staff to bring our dreams to life. We both appreciated the guidance, help and support creating unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime for us. Buffet was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all, more than enough food for 2nd and 3rd helpings, Resident DJ Kerry was super with great range of music for us all. Would highly recommend.

Dont usually write reviews or (MOAN)..

Second time in a row this place has been very disappointing 😞...

So, 3-4 week's ago, my wife and I went out for a steak dinner on the Sunday afternoon.

Pumpkin 🎃 Soup for starters, was really nice 👌 For main meal, Ordered 2x fillet steak, potatoes, portion mushrooms and onions and 1 portion onions only🌰, 1 peppercorn sauce, and a COLD 👈glass of Milk🥛 with my meal.

Received, 2x mushrooms and onions mixed, (hate mushrooms)🙄 2x Peppercorn sauces, which was enough to make soup.. Smash Potato's pfft.. Powdered potatoes out of a Box Really, 😬🙄 So i asked if they had, ROAST POTATOES 🥔 since it was a Sunday but they don't do them either. No roast potatoes should be a CRIME, especially on a Sunday 😵‍💫 and to finish it off, they brought my glass of Milk with ( ICECUBES ) in it. 🫣🫣...£95 for 2 people..

Went back today,, placed a order requesting for baby potatoes as there other SMASH potatoes are Powdered.. and requested to have my steak served on a hot sizzlers plate, NO PROBLEM i was told, only to be notified 10min later after my soup, that the (guy / chef) that cooks it,,, COULDN'T serve me my steak on the hot plate (WTF) dont do it anymore i was TOLD.. So again didn't want to moan or cause a scene 😑.

Dinner came and after explaining to the staff before ordering about the stinking Smash powderd potatoes from 4 weeks ago,,, they brought them again ON TOP of the baby potatoes 🫣🫣 and lastly, ordered mushrooms and onions mixed for the other 2 people and ONLY received Mushrooms with NO ONIONS, and AGAIN i didn't even say anything, hence why ive took the time to write this review... £128...

Probably the worst Chritmas meal I've ever had. Only option for veggies on festive menu is macaroni and chips. What is festive about that? It's available all year round! Was told I could order from the main unfestive menu. All the usual uninspiring so called veggie options of pizza or pasta. If you don't like either of those you're screwed! Clearly the chef can't do vegetarian/vegan options as mac cheese on an Xmas menu is not only lazy, it's insulting. Eventually, after insisting that I didn't want pizza and don't like pasta they agreed to do me a jacket potato and cheese, not at the festive price though, oh no, I had to pay the standard menu price!! Jacket potato was supposed to come with the seasonal vegetables as I asked. It came with a few carrot and swede chunks, a dollop of coleslaw and doritos!!! The soup was leek and potato and tiny amount of chilli. Had chilli been mentioned on the menu I wouldn't have had the soup - I hate chilli. The tablet sunday wouldn't have been so bad if the tablet hadn't tasted of the smell of fat. What on earth was that tablet made of or stored in? Including the £5 deposit, the meal ended up costing £27 a head - expensive! The menu is lazy, unappetising, and ill conceived for veggies. I Will not be visiting any Carrigans ever again. Veggies and vegans beware. If you like pasta you'll likely be ok, otherwise look elsewhere for a meal cos this...

Hadnt been in this place for 20 years. It was like having an outa Blantyre experience. The place is absolutely beatiful inside, as good as any restaurant ive been in.

Ordered steak pie, i love steak pie but always a gamble as sometimes you eat it you're chewing every mouthful for 5 minutes as the meets tough. It was cooked to perfection. Waitress recommended chips rather than potatoes and said they were lovely, sure enough they were lovely. Portions could feed a small army but you can get a cheaper smaller dish if you prefer, i had the full portion even though i didn't feel particularly hungry, i demolished the lot. I didn't have a starter but couldn't possibly have eaten a sweet. Maybe they could make their main portions a little smaller and they would make more money on sweets.

The staff were lovely, couldn't have been more attentive. I was visiting from Cheshire and i will definitely be back.

My only complaint, if i could call it that, it was quite cold but to be fair, it was a really cold day and it was busy so assuming they get really busy on a Sunday, maybe id be complaining it was too warm if i'd arrived 2 hours later.

I do eat regularly in the area as i have immediate family in Blantyre but Carrigans is by far the best in a 10 mile...
