Lovely tasting food & worth the weight ๐
Thurs 7/3/24 We returned from a funeral & went in to the Clairmont inn at around 3pm & at that time there weren't many in.
I ordered their stake pie & chips & the meat in it was quite tender & the gravy was nice & thick BUT the whole meal wasn't piping hot ๐ฅ & it was those french fries ๐ rather than proper chips ๐ There were no hard carrots ๐ฅ either ๐ -- at least my plate๐ฝ๏ธ was warm & my friend Janie's plate was piping ๐ฅ & i wished mine was like that & i've never felt a plate as hot as that in any of the eateries that I've been in b4.
For my sweet, I opted for their apple ๐ crumble & custard & it came on a shallow plate & the ๐ crumble was nice & hot, the custard wasn't too runny & was warm - so there u have it & we both cleared our plates.
Back in again on Sunday 13/7/25 for my lunch.
Because of the good weather I choose to have a ham salad, which I ate all up. Despite it not having my favourite lettuce - iceberg ๐ฅฌ & it was unusual to have only ONE slice of cucumber ๐ฅ on my plate but plenty of grated cheese.
The cold meat tasted very good & also the 4 potatoes included the small one were boiled to perfection & as usual the service was very good too
I had ticked off the coffee BUT didn't opt for it & just enjoyed a cool drink of lovely fresh orange ๐ & forgot to ask for NO ice cubes in it 'cos it tends to water it down.
I noticed a few folks sat at a ROUND table & I felt that is better for communication if a few folks r a bit deaf & have...
ย ย ย Read moreCalled in for a meal, whilst nothing was inherently wrong there was nothing to make me want to return. I like a nice steak and they had Rump Steak on their 'specials' menu - but nobody could tell me what size??? So I went for the 8oz Rib Eye. It arrived very, very quickly and quite simply was tasteless, served with onion rings a raw tomato and mushrooms (from a tin?) + a side of chips which took a little longer than the main meal. All edible but nothing to get excited about. I then decided to have a sweet and selected the 'Snowball Sundae' again, nice but not exciting - the 'snowball' was one of those shop bought marshmallow, chocolate & coconut biscuit snowballs with ice-cream, chocolate sauce and squirty cream on top. The place itself is nice and clean, the staff are very friendly but the seats are hard and uncomfortable. My main gripe is that the meal didn't convince me that they had an actual chef doing the cooking. I hope that I caught them on an 'off day' and that they can improve quickly with just a little more care (P.S. Dear 'chef?' I ordered medium rare - I...
ย ย ย Read moreLoved it. First time ever in the Claremont and the meal was fabulous. If I had to change anything I would put a bit of a slant of the garlic bread with more garlic and less butter. I had the lasagne with salad coleslaw and chips, quite frankly this was the best ever lasagne even better than mine. Hubby had The hot one and he was slightly disappointed that the bun was soaked in the chilli possibly changing the bun type or reducing the amount of chilli or placing the burger on the roll first then the chilli but honestly, fab one of the best meals in the Falkirk area for a long time. Plus the snowball sundae was a delight. The sign at the door said wait to be seated but the gent walking around said to take a seat and I'm rather glad we did, the waitresses were polite and the cleanliness of the place was excellent. I didn't visit the toilets so I can't comment on those. A couple of young lads were watering the plants outside as it was a warm evening and it was welcoming and pleasant atmosphere inside. Well done the Claremont, we...
