First time attendee for a graduation dinner. At first the atmosphere was fine, but soon took a turn as we were told that our table of 11 would only be able to order from a set menu only. A bit disappointed as we had to pay £120 booking fee only to find this out on arrival. We may not have bothered had we known this in advance.
Choices on set menu were nothing special. What was supposed to be a special occasion soon became no different to eating out at McDonald’s.
First server who took our order was very professional and was very pleasant.
However, the servers that came to the table with food seemed to be untrained or very fresh in the trade.
They served across the table, over my 2 year old daughter with hot food. Her starter was slammed down in front of her.
When the mains came, my husband received a medium/well steak (he ordered rare), this dish passed very closely around my daughter’s head. I am lucky that both my husband and I have worked in this industry in our younger years and are very well trained in silver service, therefore, my husband was able to prevent any hazard taking place, again my daughters macaroni was slammed down in front of her.
My brother-in-law’s fish had more batter than fish.
When we ordered drinks, the server wasn’t able to understand a simple order of 4 diet cokes.
Trying to get the attention of staff for anything, say another fork, was impossible as nobody was attending the table or they would just walk by without acknowledging customers.
When most of the party had finished their meal, that’s when someone eventually came to check on the table, by then we had given up even complaining as we had small children (2 under 2years) and needed to leave promptly.
As I was attending to my baby, a server took away my dish which I wasn’t finished with (a ribeye steak, not just some random dish), by the time I had turned around, they had already turned their back to me. Again, I didn’t even bother trying to flank any member of staff down as there was no-one to be seen on the floor that seemed to have an inkling of how to run a restaurant.
Basically, untrained staff, mediocre food, poor service choices and a lack of good management.
If you aren’t able to run a restaurant on full menu for all, then don’t do it at all.
Big parties or not, this is an organisation issue that a professional kitchen should be able to accommodate.
Not really worth travelling out of Glasgow.
I humbly suggest you have Gordon Ramsay come and sort you out. The other full star reviews are either friends of family, as they do not detail anything of the sort that you...
Read moreWhat a shame they spent more on Location than Attention to Food!! I asked for Haddock and Chips on Monday 29th May 2023 I horrified to be given a long thin battered fish with so much oil underneath it would have been impossible to eat. I tried for what seemed forever to get the attention of the staff who were chatting at the side of the bar. I showed the Oil to the waiter and he said Sorry he would Change it. Almost instantly he appeared with a Different Fish but with the same oil underneath. I have had Beer Battered Haddock in more expensive and more cheap places but Never had I seen anything like this. My partner was upset so I put my napkin Under the fish. Took the ends off and top and ate the haddock. This was a Serious mistake. I had to leave rather quickly as I felt sick. I was sick immediately when we got home and almost had to stop the car! For 2 days later I could not eat and felt I was going to be sick again. I also Ordered a Portion of Onion Rings. Avoid them too they gave 6 and we ate 2 each and they were so oily. My partner had veg fajitas and this looked like it was made in a cheap chain for tourists.
The second my partner stopped eating a waiter appeared and cleared the table. This was way too fast especially as it took so long to find one of them to change my fish!
He looked at the saturated napkin and asked was everything ok? Seriously?? No! For anyone interested we had No Apology and had to pay the Bill in Full!!
We had booked for Valentines Day but we’re told the week before it was going to be a Set Menu? I did not want anything on the set menu. I should have gone with my gut which is still slightly poorly and Gone to Scott’s in Largs. Their service and food is so much better.
Nice looking Restaurant but Staff and Food are a No!! Also lovely huge Adverts in the Women’s Cubicles asking to apply for various jobs from low to high and Chef which doesn’t...
Read moreI've amended my original review. Not sure why I'm bothering, the restaurant does not appear to acknowledge any reviews. Place is back to normal for breakfast again and we won't be giving it another try this time around. Triple stack should be literally a stack of pancakes (LIKE THE ONES IN THE PICTURE BELOW). What came was five supermarket like pancakes thrown on a plate. My son had waffles which he said were awful and he left them and believe me he leaves nothing. He got a breakfast roll and the sausages were missing. I got the light breakfast. Any lighter and it would've been a weight watchers version. Two sausages that were burnt, one potato scone, one teeny poached egg and two bits of bacon folded over on top of each other all on a massive plate which was laughable in itself. The end of both bits of bacon wasn't cooked properly either. My husband and youngest son's breakfast was fine but they ordered the full ones. As for the orange juice, it tastes like the long life stuff and they need to put ice in it which is bizarre. Nice freshly squeezed juice should be served in a place like this. Wouldn't have been too bad if they didn't charge an absolute fortune. How they think they can get away with serving a breakfast like that is beyond me. Toast doesn't even come with a choice of butters and jams. Two teeny butters and that's your lot. I didn't bother complaining while I was there as I was there to try and relax from what is an extremely stressful time and I didn't want to add to my stress. Definitely will never be back for breakfast. There is a review just below this with pictures. That's what our breakfast looked like when we visited at Christmas. Goodness knows what's gone wrong. Will go back to somewhere local...
