Visited here a few times, food is usually quite nice. Coffee is a hit or miss. Took our 20 month old son to soft play last weekend. Very disorganised setup, names taken on way in, seemed to be one member of staff dealing with soft play area, children left to do what they want, parents not watching many of them and no staff supervising to do anything about it. Children aged 5+ running around the designated toddler area, piling at least 10 small chairs up in front of the entrance which would really be a risk if there was a fire or emergency evacuation not to mention a total inconvenience when trying to carry a baby in and out of the area. 3 young girls hanging around under the main frame making TikTok videos which seems pretty inappropriate when there are young kids and other adults around, I personally keep my child off any social media and don’t give permission for him to be photographed by strangers so I didn’t like the fact that they were making online videos nor did I want to be in the background of them and would suggest to me that they are too old/ not interested for soft play if that’s what they are doing in the frame, again no parents or staff around to acknowledge this or do anything about it. Bought 2 coffees and cakes £13 not very friendly woman on the tills who made a snide comment to one of the other staff for interrupting with another customer in front of me which I found unprofessional and the girl had just been answering a customers question. Total cost for coffee cake and soft play £19 and wasn’t very enjoyable, tense and chaotic atmosphere so only stayed 40 minutes which was more than enough! Could do with being better organised maybe allocating tables with a number in soft play area then would be easier to identify if people were overstaying their time rather than having to wander round asking everyone their name...
Read moreThe food at Edenmill is overpriced and the quality is very poor. It's the wrong side of a tenner for a lacklustre toastie in extremely burnt bread, and 5.50 for a very meagre plate of soup. Mid-range restaurant prices to sit in a cold and draughty environment that has the feel of a school assembly hall.
I ordered the vegetarian burger and asked for the chips to come without cajun seasoning, however, they still arrived with it through the chips so they can't have been listening properly. The disinterested waitress shrugged and said that it's not cajun seasoning, a masterclass in gaslighting. To be fair to her, a new portion of chips was brought out but unfortunately they were rock hard and difficult to eat.
The burger came out in a very burnt bun that had a chemical smell to it. When I complained to the woman that I thought it was a gluten-free bun, she flat out denied that it was. However, I have had the displeasure of trying gluten-free buns in the past and this certainly had the look and feel of one – very small and brick hard to the touch. Her attitude was beyond rude, and at no time did she apologise for the mix-up or offer a replacement or refund. I was pretty disgusted with her attitude so I handed my plate over and told her to leave it.
To add insult to injury, the coffees after the meal were freezing cold but couldn't be bothered complaining about that. Needless to say, I left hungry.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, as there are far nicer and similarly priced restaurants in the vicinity where staff care about and are nice to their customers and food can be eaten in a nice, warm and less clinical...
Read moreArrived with my 3 year old child and pregnant wife. Noticed it was busier than usual. Our child ran into the soft play room so we went to pay for his session and order food. Was met with a really rude older lady at the till, was immediately given a lecture on etiquette of booking in advance. We were patient with her and polite throughout. We have been to Edenmill many times and didn't have to book before. We did apologise though but the lady repeatedly told us to immediately remove our child from the play area . My wife was a little stunned at her aggressive tone. To which she went to get our child.
I asked if it was ok to order food to which the lady said once our kid was removed from the play area she would take my order. I was told to stand aside. She then proceeded to take multiple orders from other people in the queue behind me, when my wife and child came out she continued taking orders from other people. She kept ignoring me until after the 3rd or 4th customer got served, l just left with my family. Her behaviour was incredibly immature and unnecessary. When we left she never even apologised or said anything to rectify the situation. I guess Edenmill has too much business in this current financial climate to care about their loyal customers.
I would understand if we had a prior argument with her or misunderstanding but this wasn't the case. This lady obviously has a chip on her shoulder/ power trip. Very unprofessional service and bordering insulting/offending behaviour.
Upon reviewing the negative reviews of this company I'm sure it's the same older lady that is rude to alot of the customers with similar...
