Generally pretty good chips but BAD BAD BAD management.

The staff have obviously been instructed to get the money off you as soon as humanly possible, so every time you try to order they're telling you how much it is before you even finish the order. Seriously, it's like:

"Can I have a half pizza and chips and..." "That's £3.50." "Sorry and a sausage sup..." "£7.20" "...per, oh and can I have a pickled onion with that?"

Every other chip shop I go to charges you at the end, once your food is available. Here it's like they don't trust you not to flee the scene before your chips arrive.

The worst thing about the Equi's approach is that by the time the food is ready, they've always forgotten about any extras like pickled onions or ice cream and you have to remind them.

Apart from being annoying for the customers, it's also REALLY bad business. Because there's no time for the customer between ordering and having money demanded, there's no time to hang about the shop and decide that, hey, that ice cream looks good, I'll have a tub of that too.

Pay attention Equi's owners - charge people at the end and you'll sell more stuff AND have less...

We have only used the take away for hot food and ice cream. Ice cream choice is amazing. Fish is nice, chips are ok. Disappointed that fritters are only available occasionally! 😣 The counter staff are not friendly, even tho we are regular customers. They never make conversation with you and are reluctant to chat with you, if you make conversation with them. Most of them look like they are unhappy to be there! It's always very noisey and quite difficult to hear what they are asking you. They are always too fast to ask for payment before you have even completed your order. Another minor gripe is that they are reluctant to fry fresh fish at request, if you are having to wait for pizzas or what ever. The ordering/waiting area "system" is a total shambles as there is no proper system in place for who is waiting to order and who is waiting for their order, as people are standing all over the place at the hot food AND the icecream counter. 😩 I hope the management take our feedback on board, to give their customers a much better service experience! Incredibly poor customer service.would have given zero stars if possible. We go to this place frequently for take away food and ice cream. Visited today to buy some ice cream to take away. Young male serving was exceptionally rushed when collating the ice cream order, resulting in one of the portions (out of the 3 same size asked for) being significantly smaller. When I asked (very politely) if this could be looked at - I was met with an extremely defensive attitude, from both the server and the (I presume) owner. Not at all willing to take on board what I was saying, not interested in taking any time to discuss my concern - actually walking away as I spoke to him. When I said I won't be back, very flippant response shouted as I left 'well don't come back then'. Would have fully expected the owner to at least check what I had actually got and perhaps offered a replacement - but he showed no interest at all. Poorest form of customer service.
