Food here was good, fresh and flavourful. Beef Lasagne was tasty, chopped salad fresh and my partners ’All Day Breakfast’ was good. It’s what you’d expect in a good cafe. We sat in the undercover area with our dog at lunchtime, on a warm and sunny day. Staff were friendly and helpful in the cafe, service was quick for a busy lunchtime, but this place is full of ‘contradictions’…

To start, there’s a passive aggressive notice saying “dogs will be banned if owners can’t pick up their dogs’ poo” - not a great first impression? See photo.

When we asked for a bowl of water for our dog, the waitress told us “environmental health won’t let us bring you one, for ‘health and safety reasons’ but there’s a tap outside and bowls are positioned everywhere” - so we organised a bowl of water for our dog from the tap whilst we waited for the food order.

The times when dogs are allowed inside the main cafe are clearly displayed on notices, yet it seems exceptions are made outside of those times as a table (with a dog) being seated across from us said they “wanted to be inside” so they were seated inside. Even though Saturday isn’t one of the days listed as ‘dog friendly’?

The menu says order and pay at the table, but we were asked to pay at the till inside, a different waitress was delivering a bowl of water to the table for the people with the dog!

When in the shop all of the fridges with food displays have signs stating ‘do not open, please ask for assistance’ - all of them. So, I stood at the till behind another customer who was paying waiting my turn with a list in my head, but the woman at the till ignored me, picked up her mobile phone, started talking to whoever called, asking “don’t you have the number for the cafe?”, she blanked me completely and walked off into the cafe! I waited for a moment, but found myself questioning why I was spending both my time and money in a place where the service is so poor? Decided to spend both elsewhere!

Whilst looking for my partner and the dog (dogs are not allowed in the shop, understandable, as they sell food as well as gift items) I noticed lots of debris/untidiness in the outside areas, see photo - certainly not a great lasting impression either?

To summarise - We won’t be returning! Food was good, but we were left with a sense of ‘dog tolerance’ not friendliness, plus total contradictions and confusion as the staff didn’t seem to have any consistency and the woman in the shop was just...

I had saw from Facebook that the cafe was closed due to a private function today from 2pm Arrived just after midday for a drink and a cake with my elderly dad who resides in a local care home. I knew we wouldn't still be there at 2pm, it was just a quick visit we were planning. He is 84 and very infirm. Managed to walk him over the car park to the cafe entrance to find a sign that said that no seating was available inside due to private function taking place. I thought it was from 2pm? Looking inside, there was free tables where we could have sat. I walked him over to the outside seating area where two tables were already occupied. All the seats and tables were wet from an earlier shower. The young girl who was serving outside saw me drying off the furniture with a pack of tissues before I could sit my dad down. No acknowledgement of us at all, the least I would expected was her to say she would be with me shortly to dry the table and take my order? Nothing. I went inside to the shop to ask where I could order and was told the girl outside would take my order. Back out I went. Waited a short time and then decided to leave with him. Fair enough closing for functions but maybe detail the correct time for when you aren't allowing people inside to save wasted journeys. And maybe a focus on customer service wouldn't go amiss. Been wanting to try here for some time as I've read such good reviews , left very disappointed. *Thank you, I really appreciate your quick response. It was just such an effort to actually bring him, as he can hardly walk at all. He and I had been looking forward to our visit. Maybe...

A really cosy feeling farm shop and cafe, relaxing lighting and beautiful decoration on the walls. All farm themed sort of stuff.

The food is great from here I got pancakes with raspberries and maple syrup. 3 of the pancakes were nice but the 4th one tasted much better with a hint of lemon and it was larger. I suspect maybe the first three are store bought and the larger one was homemade but I can't be sure. They were all delicious nevertheless.

Staff are kind and welcoming matching the mood of the whole place. Service was quick and staff were talkative and friendly. Honestly shocking the speed of the service here after ordering our coffees arrived in under 5 minutes, super quick considering how busy it was. Food wasn't much longer either was barely getting to drink my coffee before it arrived. Excellent service.

The cafe is decent value for money but not the best, each pancake topping you have costs ÂŁ1 extra. All pancakes come with butter already so maybe add an option to swap that out with maple syrup. ÂŁ1 wouldn't be bad but you don't get much. All in all however this place is good value, not a cheap cheap place but certainly not expensive.

All in all the cafe is nice and the animals outside are great for kids or anyone who likes goats! Quick service, Great food, and good value for money. Worth a visit if you are nearby, there is also a farm shop inside the cafe which isn't such good value for money but seems to sell some good...

TLDR: We've been here multiple times for breakfast, the quality of the food is excellent and consistent. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Indoor and semi-outdoor seating. Lovely farm shop with excellent produce. We've been here quite a few times now for breakfast and have tried many of the breakfast options and we're never disappointed. The quality of the food is excellent and it's always beautifully cooked. Our favorites include the full breakfasts and the variations of eggs benedict. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder, luckily, these guys seem to be able to cater for all beholders. One thing that I harp on about most is consistency, and how many places are good for a bit then just tail off. That's not the case here, every time we've been back, we've been delighted all over again. The Cafe has been given a lot of love and attention, with the buildings being renovated and expanded (not hindering the every day business). It's very clean and has a cosy farm-shop style vibe with neat farm paraphernalia hanging from the walls. The farm shop offers some great produce, we can recommend the bacon and any of the wagyu products, they're amazing. You'll also find all kinds of Scottish trinkets and gifts including, ales and preserves. Of course, the staff are friendly and welcoming and always greet you with a smile.

This is my second visit to Greenhall and my friend's first visit. She was absolutely delighted by it and is keen to return. While I did enjoy my visit I did find the closeness of other tables a little uncomfortable. I did get over it and honestly there is only so much you can do with the space. My toasties was a bit soggy on the bottom but I put this down to me talking for a couple minutes before eating. All other food was good, especially the salt and chilli chips. The cakes are lovely and definitely worth a visit for. It was lovely not to be hurried away by any of the staff. We were permitted to sit and enjoy our meal and drink. My daughter is keen to visit, especially for the Alpacas, so we will be back soon.
