(Dumfries/paisley campus) In 2023 I was doing social work placement. They received verbal allegations about me from individuals who does not like me. When UWS received these allegations they dismissed me on the spot. No investigation, no questions, no protocols, absolutely nothing. The allegations made even if they are correct which I have concrete evidence they are 100% false. They do not go against UWS codes of conduct and not serious to reach the threshold for a verbal warning. UWS refused to let me appeal which is a basic right for a student and wasted 3 years of hard work from my life. When I begged the placement organiser to do the right thing and allow me to appeal he said no point appealing because no body want you back. The dismissal report they sent me was full of lies and contains remakes I found very hurtful and disrespectful for example, there are comments in the report saying I am just like another service user in the placement. When I went to their union for advice they said because where I am originally from I might be influenced by cultural factors that made me bothered by all this. They advised me to learn from it and move on and not to go to a solicitor because all solicitors want is my money. I'm really shocked by how unprofessional and ignorant this university is and along with their union and no wonder it is the worst university in UK with very bad reputation. I've now appointed a solicitor to deal with this paying thousands to get justice. UWS keep saying they did this based on the information they received "which if they have investigated in the first place or followed their protocols none of this would have happened". If they allow a student to be dismissed without a protocol like what they did to me they then they are surely also allowing incompetent failing students to graduate without a procedures and protocol which is very dangerous. Imagine getting a nurse from there to deal with your medical problems or a solicitor to deal with your crisis. UPDATE 25/7/25 I have raised a complaint with them directly and it got ignored. Then I had to contact SPSO in order to get a response whether they received my complaint. Once the SPSO contacted them then now immidiatly acknowledged it. They are past the 20 days deadlines now (over 3 months) Complete silence while 3 ignored attempts to get an update. I've reported them to the SPSO for the 2nd time now just to get an update on my complaint. They also no responding to the SPSO and now waiting to see next steps. Update 25.10.25 they said they are still working on the complaint and no outcome yet. That's 7 months now. Update 28. 10.25 I finally received a response but they denied absolutely...
Read moreI started my DBA at UWS and experienced this university as a degree mill and probably the worst educational experience I have ever encountered and I work in managing the student experience. False marketing of the programmes is the first start. They are not focused on providing a good quality experience but rather trying to get in as many students as possible without building in proper learning, support and administration structures. They appoint lecturers from the bottom of the barrel that spend the lecture time talking nonsense or about their children rather than actually teaching. Supervisors are ill-equipped to supervise properly and are unfamiliar with business research methodologies such as the Delphi method which has been used as a research methodology in multiple PhDs to build consensus around management frameworks etc. This was a total waste of my time and money. Anyone interested in this university as an option steer clear of UWS London do not be fooled by the nice images of the campus as this is not what educational quality is. It is around the learning and supports you receive and having good administration processes - which was also awful. In addition I tried to litigate against the university but they have a loophole and is probably aware of this. Because this is a Scottish University you cannot sue them in England you need to do so in Scotland and because education in Scotland is free there are no lawyers specialising in higher education litigation that is willing to take on the case. I even contacted the minister of Higher education to lodge a complaint and they said there is nothing they can do because it is a Scottish University. I assume this is one reasons why they can pass as a degree mill because they are in a safe zone. So rather not go here and go to a university like Glasgow Caledonian or any other where you will receive proper learning, guidance...
Read moreAwful experience with online distance learning: Modules promised and not given. I joined the Education Masters program specifically to do the Teaching In Creativity route. I did one module, and on two occasions I had to select another route because they didn't have enough students, or because of some other excuse. I was promised that I could do the module next semester so I stayed enrolled and got through a module that wasn't so relevant. Did I get my promise fulfilled? No. They then had the audacity to suggest that I just do two modules and still claim a Masters in my chosen specialism. As if I only wanted the paper and not the actual learning experience! Honestly, I quit and joined UAL Masters instead. A real University. Joke of a place, and frauds. Also... Very slow IT help service Always issues with IT programs and enrolment too Course not well managed and most of the material is inaccessible or limited Weak lecturers and poor guidance Waste of money I sent a complaint letter and it was never...
