We received 30% off vouchers through our door & decided to give Harbour Springs another go even after not having a good dining experience the last time we dined there in December 2023!! I had booked online for 7 o'clock we arrived, stood about for 5mins, the lone bartender said shexwould be with us soon, we stood for another 5mins, we spoke to another waitress, she said she would come back to us but never did, the lone bartender eventually asked us if we had booked, the time was now 7.15 pm, she checked online, quickly went & cleared a dirty table, we sat down, eventually a waitress came over, she looked like she was the manageress, she realed off the things she could remember that had run out , she took our drinks & food order, we waited 20 minutes for our drinks to come & our food eventually arrived after another 15 minutes, we both had the Chicken Burger, the waitress had to then go & get us cutlery, I asked her for the chicken gravy that was supposed to be served with the burger ( I had this the last time I visited & it was delicious), the waitress seemed confused about this but said she would check with the chef & eventually came back with 2 pots of lukewarm ' gravy' which was tasteless, I asked the manageress about this & she said that the chicken gravy was discontinued, disappointing as it was really, really tasty!! Both our meals were average tasting. The service for other tables was terrible, the table next to us asked twice for 2 coffees, they waited 30 minutes, another table next to us ordered a chocolate fudge cake dessert, the manageress took the order, they waited 30 minutes before having to ask another waitress for their order, they eventually got it & were told that the order wasn't even put through, a few other diners also seemed to wait ages for drinks & food, people also waited ages at the bar to be served or to pay their bills. The 2 waitresses disappeared for ages & the lone bartender seemed to be left to deal with everything. Also lots of tables were left covered in dirty dishes, not getting cleared away, a cloth & spray was taken out & just left on a table, not a good impression to set in a restaurant. We also waited ages to pay our bill at the bar. I' m really sorry to give such a negative review but something needs to be done to maybe get the staff trained up better & to show an interest in diners to make their experience enjoyable, as on the times we have visited Harbour Springs we have sadly been disappointed which is such a shame as it is in our local area & we would love to go more often to support a local business but the service needs to be greatly improved before we would be able to do this. Hopefully you will take note of some of the points/issues I have raised & that my points...
Read moreBy far the worst pub especially carvery I've ever been in... With only 3 tables occupied of 2 or 3 people and about 5 members of staff took 20 mins to bring over our drinks. When we ordered the 2nd round of drinks the guy decided to ignore our order and go have a staff meal so 30 mins after that order we had to goto the bar to see where they were. Upon finally receiving them, got it wrong so sent them back. Charged us the price of a large wine for a small x4... The basic waiter polly had more knowledge and graft than the manager and other staff pottering about looking like the homeless. If anything she should be the manager. How does a lower class waiter tell a higher member of bar staff the correct measure to pour? Really?
As for the carvery, we'll what a cotastrophy, take your own hedge cutter if you want to get through the beef, arriving just an hour after opening expected there to be plenty of food left without it sitting dry for the afternoon but that was a mistake. Place was pretty empty going in an hour after open, yet the meat was dry, obviously the beef was blasted nowhere near tender, the gammon and turkey was dry as anything, as for the veg there's was barely anything, so called roasties that were soggy, cauliflower cheese was still raw, the parnsnips was as soft as mash potato, carrots non existent, all the veg bowls were empty basically and hardly a selection, waited around for an hour having 2 drinks to pass the time in hope they would bring out more fresh stuff before ordering as a carvery usually would but no nothing at all. So wasted a tenner per head on the worst food ever when I would of enjoyed a lidl microwave meal much more or even McDonald's next door would of came out better. And as said overcharged for the drinks. The manager and bar staff don't know their rear from their elbows only the waiters are on form. Seriously out of all my years of being in different pubs from high end to low end this is by far the most sorry excuse of a place I've been too. I'm even happy with a cheap wetherspoon 2 meals for a tenner but this place makes them look 5 star put it that way. Never going there again!!!!
And to top it off when I asked the SO CALLED chef how the meat was cooked he couldn't give me an answer. I can tear real chefs from fake ones believe me and this guy certainly had no heart or...
Read moreEverything we wanted from the menu and more was not available at 6pm on a Wednesday night, service slow, server very abrupt and had a bad attitude, all 4 of my party agreed and she came over very rude at points, some food had to go back as soggy popodums, although 2 of us ordered drinks long before the other 2 of our party arrived we had to wait until they arrived before we got our drinks, problem with the vouchers some of the group paid and no house red wine to go with the curry night meal, was offered white which not everyonr drinks, my friend was nearly £30 for a curry and 2 glasses of wine and a potion of chips. She asked if curry came with chips and was told yes, was not told it was extra, the place was freezing and alot of folk sitting with their jackets on, we have not been to Harbour springs for years as it went downhill and we're told it had got better, I wish to disagree as apart from the company everything else was way below standard, when the surver asked what they could do better as we had complained when she asked I had said have the basics on the menu...she was clearly very perplexed and looked very annoyed,if you don't want to hear the truth dont ask the question, no mac and cheese, no mixed grill, no hunters chicken, etc etc, when we ordered mac and cheese she snapped she had told us when we came in there was none left! but she had NOT nor the other 2 of our party when they arrived. Its not the servers fault food has run out but if you a friendly and sincere it goes along way rather than how we were spoken to, its rediculous to have ran out of so much by Wednesday and whoever does the ordering needs to make sure there is enough especially when vouchers have been sent out to customers so obviously it will be busier. We won't be back which is a shame as it used to be a lovely place and meal and we like to support...
