Absolutely outstanding restaurant! Truly a hidden gem - it's reached via a short path from the street and looks small from the outside, but it's beautiful with lots of tables and room inside! It is clearly a favorite among locals - it was very busy, and you could immediately tell how much everyone was having a great time there, smiles & laughter all around! We hadn't booked a table, but the incredibly friendly staff managed to squeeze us in anyway, and continued to make sure we had the most enjoyable dinner all throughout the evening. The pizza looked absolutely delicious and there was a very large variety to choose from, but the specialty menu had even more exciting options, so I went with the game pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. I've never had a better meat pie in my life - the puff pastry was crispy & flaky, while the various types of meat were each perfectly cooked and tender beyond belief. It came in a rich, thick sauce just oozing with flavor, as well as a large assortment of potatoes and veggies. It was a huge portion, which is exactly what you want with a meal this delicious! Since the main course was that delicious, I couldn't resist going for a dessert as well - which was beautifully decadent, with the freshly made, steaming hot pudding being accompanied by a salted caramel sauce and amazing Italian ice cream. Highly recommended! All the dishes were very reasonably priced as well. Finally, while the food was incredible, what was even more memorable was the family running the place - their energy and joy was infectious, they always made sure everything was perfect for us, and you could really tell everything is made with love. The combination of Italian & Scottish qualities was such a joy, and I even got to practice some Italian with the waiter! If you're in the area and looking for amazing food, incredible service, and a place where everyone is guaranteed to leave in a great mood with a big smile on their face, don't miss out on this treasure!

We stopped here for lunch last weekend. It was a little difficult to find as Google maps took us to a housing estate instead. In the end we found the restaurant. Thankfully, we parked around the corner because there wasn’t much customer parking. The restaurant is surprisingly big with both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are very friendly. I liked the open kitchen. We were served by an Italian gentleman who was great. He was very knowledgeable, experienced and has decent banter. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. Since they have a pizza oven my wife and I both decided to get a pizza. I asked the waiter for recommendation and he said that he would order a margarita, especially since it was our first time here, because you get to really taste the pizza and not get overwhelmed with additional toppings. I took his recommendation and got a margarita and my wife got the meat feast. I expected a very good pizza and it tasted excellent. However, I was surprised how saturated the base was. I lifted the pizza up to have a look at the under carriage and I seen a hole in the pizza base which wasn’t a great sign. It was almost like it wasn’t cooked long enough. My pizza did have a mozzarella ball in the centre which may have been why the pizza was so wet. I still enjoyed my pizza as it was very tasty but I do prefer a crisper base. This pizza was rather sloppy. The toppings would fall off when trying to pick up a slice - a bit messy. My wife found her pizza very good which wasn’t as wet mine but could have been crispier. This is perhaps their style which is fair enough. For dessert my wife got the Dellizle al Limone and I got the ice cream brioche bun. Both desserts were excellent. I couldn’t believe how large mines was but it was very tasty. My wife’s lemon sponge cake was extremely indulgent. Overall, we felt the meal was reasonably priced and it definitely filled a hole.

So far I've done one takeaway and one sit in here. Both times I ordered the Sevens - a thin crust, topped with tomatoes, mushrooms, mozzarella, ham, and onions. Not sure I'll be ordering anything different any time soon! They also have a solid list of starters, I tried the cheese-topped garlic bread and can totally recommend it. This is an incredibly welcoming place, honouring the history of the building it is housed in, creating a brilliant and cozy atmosphere. The service is world class, despite being so busy, the members of the staff will always take the time to answer questions and tend to your needs without rushing it. If you're looking for a hidden gem in the Borders area, look no further!

We booked our family xmas day meal at 1pm and received a confirmation email with this time on it, but when we arrived promptly at 1pm they all looked confused. Apparently the boss had called me to change the time although there was NO RECORD of any call from Hunter Stables on my mobile phone! (I think she forgot but would nit admit fault) The manageress was quite rude when we told her this and just said we would have to go away for 1 hour and walked away! Not professional at all. When we eventually sat down (after an hour sitting in the car and 20 minutes standing in their doorway waiting on the table being vacated by the previous family) we were brought a complimentary wine but we had to keep shouting on a staff member to see if they could take a drinks order. One person told us 'your not my table sorry'! When someone eventually came to do this we were told we could no longer have cocktails ( other customers had them and the menu was on the table) but they said they were taking too long to make them! We could only have wine or spirits, so we placed our order and waited. AND WAITED!!! We ate our starter and our main meal THIRSTY and kept asking where our drinks were!!! and kept being told they would check for us!!! THEN...when we were onto our sweets THE DRINKS FINALLY ARRIVED. too bloody late!!! When we eventually left we noticed the next family were standing waiting for our table and had been waiting a while as an elderly family member had to be taken back to car to wait. ANYWAY..... the food was acceptable for the price as it was Christmas day but I feel the owners were too greedy they overbooked the tables. They should have taken one sitting per table, charged more and the service would have been more relaxed and acceptable. But as for the manager/owners attitude towards HER COCKUP, it was disgraceful and she never did apologise. The rest of the staff were very nice but rushed...
