We visited for the first time yesterday as had heard good reviews for this place. Booked a table for 1 30 but arrived at 1 o'clock so we could sit outside in the sun to have a drink before our meal. We sat 20 minutes before they took our drinks order and at 1.30 we still didn't have our drinks so we went to our table and asked for our drinks to be brought there. The drinks finally arrived at 1.45 and we placed our meal order at the same time. We were still waiting for our food at 2.30 so asked how much longer it would be. Food arrived 5 minutes later and it was piping hot and we all agreed the food was excellent but the service shocking! I think it was the manager who took our payment and when he asked if we had enjoyed our meal we said yes we had but it was a shame about the time we had waited. He replied that they had been caught out by the weather and that he was sorry but it was just circumstances! Not really the response we expected when we had booked our table and not just turned up unexpectedly. An apology explaining the delay or even an offer to get us more drinks while we were waiting for our meal would have been nice but we were just ignored for an hour until our food was finally brought out. The young lady that took our order and brought our drinks and food to the table was very pleasant but let down badly by the rest of her team who need to learn that keeping people waiting an hour and not communicating with them and then brushing off their comments about delays is not the way customers expect...

After a walk around the loch we stopped in for a late lunch, the dining area was busy but there were still tables free. We stood and waited at the door for around 3 or 4 minutes before we were seated ( the service review ive given is purely for management to look at staffing numbers as only a hand full if staff were on shift from what was seen front of house. 1 KP on duty clearing tables and struggling to keep up, 2 waitresses buzzing about from all areas of the restraunt and 1 member of staff at the bar also rushed off their feet. ) the food was good and the atmosphere was nice, relaxing lighting apart from the staff chasing their tail to cope with the workload, and its a clean and tidy restaurant. to give it 5 stars in each area they need another staff member or 3 to ease the pressure; someone to show customers to tables rather than allow customers obstruct the door and another KP to enable smooth transitioning from front of house to rear house, another waitress would ease the pressure aswell (nothing more atmosphere killing than table staff stressing at the volume of customers.) This review should be 5 star reviews for each section but due to lack of staff able to ease the dinning experience it falls short. Your staff are a credit to you and should provide more support to enable them to provide stress free service.

I recommend the chili beef baked potatoes. Good eat with good...

We have been to the Inn in the Loch many times over the last few years and it’s consistently good and the best restaurant in Lanark, offering a wide choice food styles for everyone on the menu, with generous portions and a friendly and well laid out restaurant with loads of seating areas for parties of all sizes. We were there again last night with friends at a table of 4 we had 3 courses each and drinks and a coffee (with the required piece of tablet!)starting with the fresh and tasty chorizo and black pudding salad, garlic mushrooms and chicken goujons. Mains were chicken and haggis burger with amazing chunky fries, I had the fillet steak stir fry with noodles and 2 x peri peri chicken with spicy fries all large portions and delicious. Sweets (forced down of course) were hot apple and cinnamon crumble with custard, chocolate brownie with ice cream, sticky toffee pudding and I had my favourite raspberry macallan sundae with shortbread and tablet in it, and a nice rich black coffee to give an excellent finish to a really lovely meal for all of us. Our waitress was Eve Marie and she was bubbly and attentive, which also helps with the overall experience and again it was another faultless meal at the Loch. Well done to the chef and the staff, keep up the great standard and we will doubtless return...

Food is absolutely delicious. So happy with the food. Service is a little slow but in their defense they were very busy. Atmosphere inside the restaurant is beautiful and we would have enjoyed that. We were sat at the entrance right by the door and it felt like we were in the hallway the noise from the ice being ground at the bar and the cold rushing in everytime the door was opened for people coming in or to go to the toilet was unacceptable. We ask to be moved to a both not far from us but we were told it was for five people and we are only four. This wouldn't have been a problem but later they say three people at the same table ment for five. Happy with the food. Not happy sitting at the door entrance next to the bar and the cold breeze.

Really nice food at reasonable prices, although portion sizes were maybe a bit small. We sat outside on a really hot day. There were quite a lot of wasps (staff had warned us) that turned up to inspect our food! But actually really didn't bother us after their initial foray. We'll eat here again as its very convenient for New Lanark (and part way between us and our son)

Foods outstanding , however a soft drink menu wouldn't go amiss, and please for the love of God change the toilet seat in the first cubicle, going home with a blood blister on ma arse from a broken toilet seat isn't the end of a good experiance I'd rather have again. I do however recommend they goujons I'm now dreaming of how fresh they were.. out of this world
