I'm nervous just writing this review, as any words I put down won't do justice. Simply put - this was the best dining experience I've ever had. From the beginning of our stay, the staff at Inver was incredibly warm, knowledgeable and inviting. At the beginning of our dinner, we were encouraged to start in the bar area, where we had a two sip martini which was a delightful (small) variation on a classic martini, infused with local herbs. Followed by a phenomenal Old Fashioned, with subtle additions of sherry and scotch, that really made the cocktail feel special and "of the locale". And then... the food. The food! From beginning to end: thoughtful, unique, and delicious. Rather than describe each course, I've attached a menu. It was exquisite. And beyond that... highly, highly recommend doing the wine pairing. The wine choices were amazing and really brought out the best in each dish, and vice versa. After our meal, we were invited back to the bar area for tea and a lovely conversation with the staff. We then departed to our rooms down the path, with a view of the lake and a delicious breakfast in bed the following morning. Inver - thank you for an incredible experience and stay. We hope to come...

We had an amazing dinner and overnight stay at Inver: super tasty food, incredible views over the loch and very warm and friendly staff that made for a wonderful experience. Dog friendly too (two tables in the bar area and one of the bothy rooms).

The location is stunning. It’s nestled in the countryside, off the beaten track with breathing views over the loch and old castle ruins. We did a lovely pre-dinner walk over to the castle which was easy to get to.

The tasting menu was fresh, delicious and high quality, with the pork three ways stealing the show for me, it was perfect!👌Having another meat dish would’ve made it even better.

The bothy was cosy and comfortable, with a huge bed and equally massive bathroom and walk-in shower. A huge window made for incredible views over the Loch. In the morning, we had a nice breakfast hamper delivered to our room complete with coffee, fresh juice and a selection of cold breakfast which was all really nice. A cooked breakfast would’ve absolutely hit the spot but this...

We arrived early and were told they were unable to allow us to have a drink while we waited even though there were empty tables in the bar area and outside. We asked if we could even just have our drink standing outside and we were refused. Luckily there is a nice old castle nearby to explore. We came back at the exact time of our booking and had to wait over 20 minutes until we could sit at our table. We watched as other early comers were allowed to sit outside until there booking. We ordered two beers while we waited and one was cold but we drank it without a complaint. We ordered the langoustines to start and recieved a hollow, brown langoustine with no meat inside. We were given a smaller sized (but at least edible) replacement with no apology. The soup was delicious and the sourdough bread was crisp and tasty. The side chips we shared were also lovely. However, overall the service was poor and our experience was remarkably average. Not worth the drive from Inverary and we will not be...

We had a fabulous lunch at this amazing restaurant. Very relaxed, great service, location and views beautiful looking over Loch Fyne. The food was top quality, we’ve eaten at some great places and this was up there with some of the best. To start - We had Oysters which were served with fresh horseradish and lemon. Plus scallops with rhubarb and sea kale. Both very good. As the main event - we had the best (and biggest) crab I’ve ever tasted. Along with a side of creamy very special buttery pomme purée. To finish - Rum Baba and a frozen rice pudding dish with goats cheese which was very unique and lovely. Then coffee and whiskey! Wine - a very dry, savoury crisp fresh white Loire valley wine, La Dilletante. It went extremely well with the crab. The staff were impeccable, the surroundings very serene. We both loved everything about this place and if we come again we’ll do the evening tasting menu with wine pairing, plus stay in one of the shepherds hut style rooms.
