We ate here on Saturday 8th of March and I can’t fault the food in the restaurant, it was very fresh and tasted great. The service and restaurant itself though are both very poor.
The restaurant seemed poorly managed with staff not really sure what to do. We ordered drinks but we were halfway through our starter by the time they arrived and probably only because we asked where they were. When they arrived one of them was wrong!! The main course arrived before our starters were finished but we took them as the waitress wasn’t sure what to do.
When the mains were cleared we were asked if we wanted dessert menus. 25 minutes later the waitress asked if we needed anything else….she had forgotten we asked for dessert menus. We ordered a dessert and a coffee, only the dessert came. When we asked to speak to the manager the waitress went to get him and came back to say he’d be with us shortly…..he never arrived.
Asked for our bill and it never arrived either, we ended up going up to the bar and asking for it only for the manager to be standing there doing nothing.
There was no level of control or supervision on the floor, I don’t blame the waitress for any of this, there was clearly no instruction or support from the manager who clearly couldn’t care less about what was going on. Other than seating us at the start he wasn’t seen on the floor all night. Not once during our meal did anyone come to ask if everything was okay.
The restaurant itself was fairly well presented but tired in places. The toilets were dirty and messy and twice my wife had to ask for toilet roll to be put in one of the cubicles.
It really was a disappointment given it’s in the hotel where all the other staff are so attentive and polite. We did say to the front desk about it all after our dinner and they said they would speak to the manager.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone which is a shame as the food was lovely, but the service was so poor it’s not...

Shame to see a pre dinner bread course be served before water and wine, usually hope to see drinks served first but overlooked that (despite being Attached to a reputable Hotel)
The thing being the real letdown was being told that a supervisor wouldn’t let us put anything posted to the room despite an £100 pre loaded credit and a card on file? This left us sat for 10 minutes waiting awkwardly with back and forth calls made to reception…
Didnt see the below par reviews before dining but very much understanding now.

Read moreFistly I would like to say how lovely the staff were and a very nice nice looking restaurant. The wines were priced from £37 up, but thinking that a £37 Grillo should be good opted for that one. Bland I think covered all its flavours. However when my rabbit came with its miriad of very nice mushrooms, I think to cover its appearance. It was very dry, a problem if it is overcooked, and I think chef must have attacked it with a machette judging by the little bone splinters running all through the dish. All in all a disappointmentand certainly not worth the high price they think...
