I don't know where all the good reviews came from but ours is certainly not. Visited Iona on thurs 9th May 19, Extremely cold and damp as was the heating in somewhat dilapidated canteen. Overpriced self service serving dried up pies etc, the pale looking slab of fish looked as though it had surrendered some while ago as did the dry looking chips. Soup was reasonable but I near chocked on the price, crusty bread ? ohh no. We had soup and a round of ham and mustard sandwich, reserving the latter for trip back. I wish I'd opened it prior to leaving. Ham was there ok, but for price an absolute disgrace, little thin piece. Staff looked as though they were just waiting for closing time. Middle room was bare and unwelcoming. For such a well published tourist site. Certainly will not return. If this is not published I will question it. Vastly over priced and substandard...

A typical Scottish cafeteria. Lots of tables to help feed all the people coming off the ferry or the boats touring Staffa. Good selection of food for a small place. I was very happy to get a Greek salad as well as a Cornish pastie filled with great beef. The chips were ok; I've had better. But the highlight for this American was the Lipton mango iced tea. I bought 2 right away but wanted all of the ones they had in their cooler. How would I carry them while walking around Iona on a very hot, sunny day? I went back later and bought the only iced tea that was still left. Apparently, there were other iced tea lovers there. It may sound silly, but I've been away from home for 8 weeks. I needed some...

While the food and drinks were good, the real star of the show here is the service. On June 18th, my friends and I visited Iona on a boat/ferry tour of Mull, Staffa, and Iona. Our trip to Staffa was cut short by extremely rough waters (it was unsafe to land the boat on the island), so we came to Iona. By the end of there boat ride, we were all completely drenched. When we got here, we ate a much-needed hot lunch before walking around town, but I was still freezing cold. I came back into the bar and asked if there was a place for me to sit and try to warm up, and the woman working at the bar set up a space heater for me. She was extraordinarily kind, and I'm so...

This is a cafeteria style restaurant. We went in for the mussels and were not disappointed. The mussels in this part of the world are small, but very flavorful. The Martyrs Bay Restaurant provided a nice sized portion of mussels with bread to soak up the juice. Needed more bread, which was not a problem. They did not even charge me for the extra bread. We also had the rich man's shortbread - which was shortbread sandwiched around a layer of caramel with a coating of chocolate on top. A decadent delightful dessert. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is located on the water; this provided a great view.

We arrived at Io a on a day of cold rain and a freezing wind. To shelter went for lunch at this restsurant. As the busdriver on Mull Island had been talking about the tasty Mull farmed mussels, he had wetted my appetite and went for mussels in white wine and garlic. Dish was well prepared but disappointed they only serve the smallest grade of mussels with consequently little taste. And the portion was rather small. Guess half kilo! For the price charged this should have been a better dish. Views on jetty and sea are indeed nice, but then that is not the prime reason to go to a restaurant.
