I recently payed a visit to this wonderful cafe by the beautiful bowling harbour on a busy bank holiday Sunday. Despite the place being incredibly busy I was greeted warmly by all staff working there who showed me to my table. My table and the whole place was immaculately kept even though it was extremely busy the staff we’re working incredibly hard and making sure all customers were having a fantastic experience. As it was a very busy day I expected quite a wait for food but I was only waiting 25 minutes this really is a testament to how well the staff work together to ensure they display the highest levels of standard. My food arrived and was served to me with a friendly face and was even offered any condiments of my choosing which were then brought to my table. This cafe is in such a beautiful idyllic spot and if you are looking for a fantastic day out and amazing food in a beautiful spot of nature then this is the place for you I highly highly recommend.

Pretty disappointing meal here and couldn’t believe the price. As pictured, my panini was hardly toasted and needed a good few minutes longer under the grill. When paying, we actually thought we’d been overcharged and went back in to query. We were then informed that a black coffee is £4.95, as is each traybake. This meant just the 2 black coffees and 2 cakes came to a whopping £20. This sort of pricing doesn’t make any sense - while the panini was disappointing, it was £7.50 which is a very fair price. In total we spent £42 on a very average lunch and I won’t be back.

A friend suggested this place to me because of my obsession with dogs. If you have a dog and you'd like to go away from the city then, this is your place. The food was nice and warm . The staff were friendly and always checked with you before giving your doggie any treats. The choice of food is good. I ordered a toastie which was delicious. Even if you don't have a dog there are other dogs their with their owners. There is also a nice path for walking. If you love dogs this is your place.

We visited this café hoping for a quick takeaway coffee and ended up waiting outside for over 20 minutes for two drinks, despite the place not being particularly busy. The cakes we purchased were average at best – dry and lacking flavour – but far more concerning was what we witnessed while waiting.

The chef, clearly visible from the counter, blew his nose over the food prep area, wiped his face with his hands, and then used the same cloth to wipe down the counters. At no point did he wash his hands. We raised our concerns with the server, who acknowledged our comment but took no action and said nothing to the chef.

Frankly, the hygiene standards are unacceptable and have left us deeply concerned. We will be contacting environmental health, as what we saw goes far beyond a simple lapse in cleanliness.

Avoid until significant...

We came here for a coffee after a walk along the canal path. It was about 4pm so we got told the kitchen was shut and there was only coffee and cakes. The staff were obviously already shutting up shop because the chairs were put on the tables whilst people were still sitting having their coffee and we got our coffee served in a take away cup. I really don't mind this but it would have been nice to be told before we ordered. Also the price of a small slice of cake was almost £5 which I thought was really expensive and both me and my husband had a sore tummy after eating it. (I did ask what was in it at got the answer "I don't know") I am sure the atmosphere was better earlier in the day, but I think that as long you are open you should make your customers feel welcome and we certainly didn't feel that way. Shame but we...
