My mum and I decided to try the Pine Martin for dinner as we saw it was dog friendly. We were seated really quickly and our server, Hannah, was so warm, welcoming and smiley! She made us feel so relaxed :) We were seated in the dog friendly section and I noticed that they had a wee unit set up with water, dog bowls and treats for the dogs which I thought was really sweet! We were given another bowl for water which was great! We both had the fish and chips which were delicious - only down side was I couldn't finish as I was wanting dessert. (Really big portions!) For dessert I had the apple and cherry crumble. I wasn't 100% sure about the cherries as I only like fresh ones. So glad I tried it as it was delicious. I was so looking forward to it I forgot to take a photo of it. Hannah was a brilliant server and definitely made it an amazing experience - she deserves a raise! She was so attentive to all the customers, not just us and served everyone with a huge smile on her face and it seemed like she was genuinely happy to be there and serve people. Were sorry our dog kept barking - she barks randomly and it's hard to get her to stop. We decided to finish our drinks in the picnic area outside which gave our dog a great time to run around for awhile. Thanks for a lovely dinner and I highly recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully when we're next back, our dog won't bark 🙈

My partner and I popped in for an unplanned lunch and were pleasantly welcomed and shown to our table in a fairly busy dinning section of this modern open planned pub and adjoining hotel. Waiter service was quick and friendly. We chose the lunchtime deal a main and a desert for £14.50 saving £5.00. We paid £1.79 extra each for two rounds of bread and butter. The three battered haddock fillets were just enough for a lunch along with the chips and peas, all cooked to perfection served with tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. The desert, apple crumble and custard was unfortunately just luke warm, almost at room temperature and why I knocked a star off the food rating. Amstel was £5.10 a pint Neck Oil IPA was £6.25 a pint Total £47.08 £23.54 per head

We regularly travel from Newcastle to Scotland and always make The Pine Marten our halfway stop — both on the way up and back. It’s dog-friendly, so our pug Betty gets a well-earned break from the car, with water and treats provided, which is a lovely touch. This time we had the steak and Malbec pie — one with chips, the other with mash — and it was excellent. Hot, tasty, and far better than you might expect from a chain pub. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Honestly, with McDonald’s just over the road, we can’t understand why anyone would choose it when you can have proper food here for around the same price. We stop here 4 or 5 times a year and it’s consistently good. Highly recommended.

Perfect Hotel! Especially for the purpose we had!

Very friendly and helpfull personal as well.

It is situated near the A1 with lots of parking space and near a hypermarket, McD and gasstation.

The rooms were fine and spacious. The restaurant was very nice looking and the food good.

What more can a traveler want!

We especially liked the service we received.

We were going to the Oasis concert at Edinburgh and Pine Marten was still affordable and it looked like something we like. Since it close enough to Edinburgh and perfectly situated on the road there from the ferry we thought this was a good place to stay after the concert. Since we wanted to go to Edinburgh as quickly as we could to beat the heavy traffic and find a parking space we needed to check in earlier or receive a key to our room and leave directly.

We were able to do the latter and this was communicated perfectly by the staff prior to our visit. We picked up our key, got shown how to reach our room and what to do if we were experiencing diffeculties. Then we left for Edinburgh. On return we had a good night's rest and an even better breakfast.

So we enjoyed Pine Marten very much. For the nice hotel it is and the excellent...

Ordered food on the app, took 20 minutes to arrive, fries and onion rings were warm at best, one of the burgers was overdone. At no point did any member of staff check in and ask how our meal was despite the bar not being busy and them spending a lot of time wandering around or chatting. After finishing our mains, plates were only cleared when I caught waitresses eye, asked for a mocha, told coffee machine wasn't working, wasn't offered alternative options or asked if we wanted more drinks. We'd ordered desserts when ordering the mains, waited 20 minutes, in the end I went to the bar to ask where the desserts were, bar man went to check, we were told because we'd ordered on the app the person who took our main dishes away didn't tell the kitchen that we were done, so the desserts were being prepared now and they'd be out "super quick" 15 mins later, desserts appeared. No apology about the wait. The crumble was bland and I ended up not eating it. Paid for drinks and left. Overall I found the service lacking and the food...
