Read moreThe location is lovely, but the service was truly disappointing. First, part of our order never arrived. When I asked about it, I was rudely told I hadn’t paid for it, so I paid again. After checking my bank account, I realised I had already paid in full. I informed the staff, but the response was dismissive. The woman simply said she was too busy with other customers, as though I was making an unreasonable request. Eventually, she handed me £4 and said, “OK, I believe you,” with no apology or concern.

You can sit outside by the river amidst the centuries old stones (with info on their age next to each one). Don’t forget to wander round the museum as well. There’s a small fee but worth it to learn more about the clearances and what the displaced families did to learn new skills. Small gift shop is nice too.
