Visited with 3 friends from Glasgow on Tuesday 3rd January, they could have been having an off day but our experience was terrible & both myself & my husband were mortified having recommended it! Only one of us ordered a starter which came in the time you would expect but then we waited over an hour from ordering before my friend found the same guy who took our order to ask what was happening, he went into the kitchen & came back out but never came over to us to offer any explanation, when our food came - 3 soup & sandwiches, a ciabatta & a burger it had obviously just been made! The soup was hot but not piping like you would expect, the steak ciabatta was lukewarm, the chicken burger was ok? my friend & I both had the breaded chicken, mozzarella & basil hot sandwich which was in no way shape or form hot! There was no basil in it, 3 pieces of chicken & 1 maybe 2 bit of mozzarella - the bread hadn't been anywhere near toasted or heated & neither of us ate the bread. My husband had the pastrami, pickle & Swiss cheese sandwich which we took a photo of, it was dire! Not even 1 slice of cheese or pastrami on the sandwich & 2 pickles! There had been an attempt to toast it as you could see faint lines where it had been in sandwich toaster? We were asked on receiving food if everything was OK but we had barely started & he didn't stay to hear our reply! After finishing our soup we started on the sandwiches & that was when we asked someone over to show them the sandwiches, the guy then went to speak to a manager & it was agreed that they wouldn't charge us for myself & my husband’s sandwiches, the plates were cleared after finishing apart from my friends plate & a fries bucket which then sat on the table for about 45 mins before my friends daughter left the table to ask someone to come & clear it! Throughout our visit there were plenty of staff on & they walked by us constantly but we were ignored & trying to get someone's attention was pretty much impossible! Someone takes your drinks order, someone different brings it, someone else takes your food order & so on & so on so there is absolutely no continuity between staff members! After the last of the plates were cleared a girl came over explaining that she was one of the supervisors, she apologised & explained that the service we had received wasn't of their usual standard & they would look into what had happened, she asked if we would like desserts but as my friend then explained we only had the table till 4pm & we had waited over an hour for our mains & nearly an hour for plates to be cleared then there wouldn't be enough time for them to get desserts out to us & we all wanted to leave. I rarely complain & am sorry in this instance to have to do so but our bill was still expensive & the quality of the food & service was really appalling, really not sure if we will ever be back?

Update review (April 2024): Had our first visit back here after a series of bad experiences a few years ago (seemed to go a bit downhill after our visit back in 2021). Unfortunately, this experience wasn't much better. We visited for breakfast and despite ordering multiple same meals they all came with different items on the plate and we had to ask for the missing items separately. Service was slow and we were left for a long time between ordering drinks and food meaning we'd finished drinks before food order had even been taken. One point to note is that a 'pot of tea for one' isn't very big and doesn't go very far. Venue is on the high-price side given the quality of the food, service and overall experience. Venue itself has plenty of parking and is well kept/decorated. One positive note from our visit was that the staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Overall, unfortunately had another disappointing visit so will be unlikely to revisit for a long time. Original review (2021): Nice restaurant, good service and friendly staff. Been quite a few times for evening meals, Sunday carvery, coffee and cake etc. Each visit has been great. There is both a restaurant and 'informal' seating area for snacks. Outdoor seating is available and it can be a sun trap when the weather is nice. Close to the Falkirk Wheel which is good too. Plenty of parking. Tasty food. Will return.

A beautiful place, with tasty food, good portions and very attentive and friendly staff. The coconut chicken was delicious, the tempura chicken was good, and the pizza carbonara exceptional (it was the weekend's special - on the salty side, but I liked it). Non alcoholic options for drinks which is a plus. The tiramisu was very good (next time I'll try the panacotta). The details in the decor really make the difference; sea shells in the outdoor area, amongst the gravel, surprised me. The staff was very laid back in a good way. Everything seemed effortless from their end. The service they provided was 5star with nothing pretentious. A note for all of you who will read my review: remember that the staff in hospitality are there to help you have good time no matter if it is Friday/Saturday night or bank holiday or any other special day. They are not with their family and friends, so show them the respect they deserve and gratitude. Of course you can come across difficult staff, but that was definitely not the case at Sea-Salt. Guys we had a wonderful night. Thank you!

Went with my partner for a lunch as we used to frequent this establishment when it was the wheelhouse. The “new” facelift and refurbished dining areas are lovely. We were taken to a table for outside eating and was predominantly in shade,we got the best of what there was seat and read through the menu.A very meat oriented menu, not good if vegan or at best a very limited if vegetarian. When we asked if there was any chance of moving seats to a more sunnier area on the same property we were told this was the “ casual” eating place only,as the menu didn’t really cater for our taste we asked to move over there, again it was forcefully named as the “casual” area only ... this suited me as we both are from poor working class families and don’t consider ourselves as better or worse that the next person.we asked to have the girl who took our drinks order to bring them over so she doesn’t waste them when they get made... we were told a third time from the same elderly waitress “as it’s casual area you need to order at the bar “ ... this was no hassle but as the drinks waitress had took our order from before we didn’t want to waste it or get her into trouble... this was met by a annoyed “well,I’ll do it for this time BUT ... as you are now eating in the “casual” area .. all food and drinks you need to order yourself at the bar... this would have been absolutely fine and has been many times in various pubs and diners BUT the menu for the casual area dinning is the SAME PRICE AND MADE IN THE SAME KITCHEN as the “not so casual” dining area, any real restaurant I have been to with a “pub grub” menu separate firstly, charges you slightly less that the all singing all dancing menu (all the casual menu is on said menu btw ) and doesn’t charge you the same as a waiter or waitress served table. We ended up turning around and walking out without eating so I can’t comment for the food quality, judging by the other reviews on this and on Trip Advisor not the best.Very poor show by an old favourite for us,the main elderly waitress was very patronising with this “casual area” enforcing patter,at the end of the day segregation of the dinners to a “posh and pish” area will only hurt the franchise both with lack of customers, some being loyal 10 plus years, Everybody’s money and plastic is the same as the next person,we will definitely not be recommending or returning to this establishment,I think they need to remember that it’s Camelon they are in...

Enjoyed but disappointed with overall in the end. Went for an ad hoc lunch, we were welcomed and it is a beautiful setting, the restaurant is very smart and clean. We ordered mac and cheese with a side of hand cut chips and the food was really nice, except the chips. Didn't look like hand cut, unfortunately they were soggy, scrappy, greasy bits, hardly a full chip among them, looked like they had scraped the dregs together. Staff had been professional and polite until then, but a different girl took our plates away, didn't ask how things had been particularly as the majority of the chips were left so I pointed out I was unhappy with the chips, she looked confused, didn't apologise and asked if we wanted desserts! She brought the menus but then didn't come back! We tried to get a member of staff attention, tried to make it clear I was holding a menu but no one came near. As it was a cold day outside but very sunny we were getting increasingly warm at the window so gave up and left. No one had come over we had to go to till on the way out to pay. I had to embarrassingly say I did not want to pay for the chips £4.50 as they were on the bill, I was asked why did we not eat them and I had to explain they were awful scraps. She had to get a manager over to take them off the bill and I mentioned I was disappointed too as we had wanted to order desserts, we got a brief apology but it just spoiled what had been a nice lunch. It isn't so much the poor quality of the chips but the handling of it, if they had just acknowledged at the time and been attentive enough to take our order. I probably would go back again and give it another go as the food was...
