Sadly 3 star rating. Food was awesome, plenty choice, well presented and nice portions.

However, ate 2 consecutive nights. First night excellent service, attentive but not overbearing staff (Wed 9/9/20). Good practice of social distancing etc. Great experience so booked again for following night.

Second night WOW completely different! (Thurs 10/9/20) We arrived promptly and were shown to table, given menus and left. From then on the service was poor at best. Nearly 15 minutes passed before we were able to order drinks after having to wave down a waitress, so we took the chance and ordered food then too. The remainder of our visit continued along that line, so much so when eventually we were approached after our main course, we had lost all interest and declined offer of sweet menu or coffee. What a difference a...

I can’t fault the food, which was excellent.

I highly recommend the haggis fitters as a starter and BBQ ribs as a main. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

The service, however, requires improvement. It was simply too slow. The main issue seemed to be in the kitchen - not sure if they were short staffed in there. It took 45 minutes from sitting down to get our starters and in total we spent 2 hours and 20 minutes in the restaurant for only a 2 course meal for 3 people, which we did receive an apology for.

It was a shame about the slow service as this would have otherwise been an excellent meal. Would come back again in the hope that this...

We went on steak night, the best steak I have ever had, amazing flavours 😋 Atmosphere is lovely, has a bistro feel to it. Soft lighting and fairy lights. Undercover outdoor dining available also. Staff were polite and friendly but did not inform us of the specials, and that it was steak night like we noticed the other tables were. We sat a good while before someone took our dirty plates. We had to call them over to order desserts and another drink. Just felt weren't attentive enough and it wasn't particularly busy. Different staff attending us also, better if same person. Just felt this let them down. Would still go back as...

I can say this without fear from my mum and sister seeing (i am from London) hands down the BEST roast dinner i've eaten. Went for honey glazed pork and everything was incredible. Gravy was unreal. Wouldn't change a single thing that was on that plate! My boyfriend the fussiest eater known to man also cleared his! Beautiful country pub with lovely views, highly advise!
