The Barn Bar — Restaurant in Scotland

My wife and I had a rather mixed day between Oban and Lochgilphead due to atrocious weather and a public holiday, closed establishments. The Barn had good reviews so we decided to call in for a meal. We received a warm welcome even though serving did not start until 5pm. The home made soup of the day was excellent, carrot ginger and orange. My wife then had a large boneless pork chop, fresh mixed vegetables, black pudding mash and apple sauce. I had a ribeye steak, tomato, mushrooms, chips and a rich blue cheese sauce from the specials board. Drinks, one house white wine, two cordials and soda. The meal was exceptionally good, nothing could be faulted. Service was very good and friendly and prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. I visited The Barn last night and the staff here are so friendly and efficient. The lady in charge (I didn't catch her name) was so bubbly and made us feel so welcome and really catered to me, my parents and my 1 and a half year old, making sure we all felt comfortable. There was a younger male who was learning the ropes of serving and she was so supportive and kind as she was guiding him which is really refreshing to see. The food was freshly cooked and amazing also. The atmosphere was so warm and if I didn't live so far away I'd come here every week. Would highly recommend it, not just for families but everyone, definitely a place where everyone is welcome and treated well. Brilliant experience and amazing customer service which I haven't seen for a long time....

We popped in today on the off-chance we might get a table booking for Sunday lunch after a hike up to the loch. What a warm and friendly welcome! We returned from our walk earlier than the time the table was booked for and enjoyed a drink from the bar and a couple of games of pool before being seated ahead of the booked time. The service was superb and the ambience very relaxed. The two ladies working front of house worked so hard to keep all of their diners happy and well looked after. Our meals (venison and a Sunday roast) were tasty and we didn't have enough room left for dessert. We will definitely return when next...
