I’ve been looking forward to trying this place for ages but have to say I was a little disappointed. There were plenty of available tables but the queue was huge and slow. Unfortunately you have to queue to order which took ages and the food took a while to come after that. When it did, it was average. The baked potato skin was so thick I couldn’t even cut it. My friends ciabattas were underwhelming. The glasses they give you to help your to water aren’t much bigger than a shot glass so we were up and down refilling those. There were loads of tourists in the queue looking disappointed at the wait and many were clearing tables themselves. It certainly wasn’t Scottish service at its best. The location is lovely and the coffee and cakes were delicious (unfortunately another long queue to get those!). I think if they sorted their queuing system and cleared tables faster, it would be a much nicer...

We had a lovely breakfast at The Bothy, Braemar this morning. Got there just before the early morning rush. Nice friendly service. We have visited The Bothy once previously for a breakfast, around same time last year.

We ordered 2 full breakfasts and pot of tea for 2. The breakfasts were clearly freshly cooked, great quality produce (black pudding top notch!). Plenty on the plate and good portion of toast on the side. Good quality tea that came in a lovely china teapot for pouring, none of those annoying metal leaky ones where you lose half your tea. Very decent pricing for a tourist heavy location.

It's clearly a very popular venue for breakfast, judging by the crowds coming through the door as we were eating.

We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area, will try a bit of lunch/home baking next time too. The menu has a great selection to satisfy most people,...

Ate in here numerous times and normally very good, but yesterday's ( friday 24th feb23) experience was ridiculous, the lady behind the till was to the point of rude ( older shorter lady )really abrupt....Got our coffee which was cold and finished before food arrived, hubby ordered a bacon Roll and sausage roll( no butter or very little on rolls) poor quality bacon&sausages and I ordered a coronation chicken&cheese toastie,he got his first, eventually I got mine, said to another member of staff it was meant to have cheese who abruptly told me it did from half way across cafe, toastie was tough n tbh not great! For £24 terrible service and rubbish food... Went into shop bought a harkila waistcoat staff young lad at till lovely..... So really moral is cafe staff need to up their game in manners and hospitality skills and level of food ...Won't...

We popped in here at about 4:30pm on a Sunday and were delighted by the service and warm welcome we received. Even at that time of day, there were still a few people dining - the fact they close at 5:30pm every day feels rare for a cafe! They have a few dog friendly seating spots and we found a great table outside. We had three different slices of cake (all tasted fresh and were delicious!) and even when the person in front ordered the last of the lemon drizzle, the server very kindly sourced a lemon sponge shortcake (which was divine!) to make up for it. One of the kitchen members also popped outside with a bone biscuit for our dog which was a nice gesture. It's a lovely spot with lots of space in a beautiful location.

Always a solid cafe, good decent lunch food, staff are great and good selection of cakes. Prices are what you would expect, there’s lots of tables and it’s always clean. One thing though, unrelated to the food, venue or staff, is that here more than anywhere I’ve been recently, people forget the good British tradition of queuing orderly. For some reason I’ve found people breathing down my neck or craning their necks round you to see the cakes, like calm down, your turn will come. But yeah, don’t let detract from a great cafe. ☕️

Went in after a hiking trip to lochnagar. Got a table no problem even though it was busy. Staff seen to us straight away, very friendly, women that served me even went and got me cutlery instead of me going for it. The food was lovely, cheese toasties, soup of the day, was fantastic, and very filling. We went in with hiking gear on, mud on the trosuers, staff didn't care but got some funny looks from other people eating. £11 for soup, toastie and juice, can't complain at that.
