Like a few others ahead of me, if I could give a zero, I would. Shame on buzzworks, as I was so excited when this place opened under their banner! I feel the need to write, so others would know, in the hope they will improve (yawn).
I visited the place week 1 of their opening and till today, have been there less than around 6 times. From now on, anyone who suggest this place, I will politely decline.
First three times, the food was completely unimpressive, gave them the benefit of doubts in the early days, not anymore. I stopped going there after my third, till I was over-ruled by numbers for the next few. It is completely overpriced for pub-like food, and Fox and Hound in Houston is better without a doubt, and consistent.
On my last visit in first half of May 19, on fear that the food can go very wrong again, I decided to choose TENDER baby back Ribs, as I thought it cannot go wrong, as long as it is real baby ribs (unless, what they mean by baby, is small). I was traumatised by the ribs served - it was so tough, I was sawing with the steak knife. It definitely did not fall off the ribs, and even any local pubs can do better!!! Friends seeing me eating with such difficulties, were suggesting I should sent the ribs back. I persevered only as my friendâs son suggested the place and I didnât want him to feel bad.
Yesterday, my friend just told me she went with her daughter during the week and her daughter ordered a macaroni dish. No surprise here - guess what the sauce was - âMILKâ!
I laughed! Am I ever going back, NO! She has now joined up with me to boycott the place - that includes her children!
For me, it is 10 out of 10 times, unimpressive to really BAD. Please, just go for pub food as they are cheaper and can be better (sauce - milk???). For those who who continue to rate this place highly, may I suggest you spare us diners the pain, think if you had dine out enough to rate your experience. Try meals in Fox and Hound instead, or perhaps, M&S or Sainsbury slow cooked range, which is over a 110% better. Just because you had paid a lot for your meal doesnât mean they are good. Stop pretending you know what good food really is and give others the wrong impression. This place is a shocking cry from other restaurants by Buzzworks. Drive down to Elliots or Scotts, unless they had gone down the drains too since Coachhouse opened?
And just in case anyone reading this is wondering, I travel with work and dine throughout the UK, parts of Europe and around the world - and when friends visit me during their holidays, I take them to Michelin stars restaurants...
Read moreAs a previous reviewer said, if I could I would give it a zero I would. Took my wife here to celebrate her birthday and the service was appalling. We arrived a few minutes early and asked to wait in the bar and pointed to a door and ended up in the bar. The server was rude and when asked to put the drinks we ordered on our dinner bill she refused. Eventually someone came to tell us our table was ready but didn't offer to take our drinks through. In ordering our meal I asked for a bottle of Malbec and asked if I wanted a regular or large glass of Malbec. No I asked for a bottle! When the server brought the bottle she proceeded to pour it straight into our glasses!! The starters in fairness were good. But when the main course arrived and I tucked in the potato stack was almost frozen. Next server apologised profusely and took it away but left my wife to eat her main course. The server came back and told me that the kitchen staff were very sorry and had told the manager. 15 minutes later my replaced main course arrived and as my wife had fiished hers I was left to eat mine . No manager appeared to add to the servers apology. On receiving the automated email the following day from the restaurant, I shared the above account and was told that they respond within 24 hours. I received a phone call the following day but being in a rural area phone signals are not great, so while I saw it was from the restaurant the phone signal was broken up and the caller hung up. To date no one has bothered either by phone or email to contact me further. Sorry Coach House we will not be back. You totally ruined a special...
Read moreVisited tonight with 5 family members for dinner. Iâve not visited for a while, however my dad and sister have been more recently and were disappointed. I kept an open mind as Iâve always really enjoyed it.
We were seated towards the back of the restaurant and our drink orders taken. It then took 25 minutes for someone to come and take our food order. 3 of us ordered starters, all of which were pretty good. The mains were a whole other story - completely disappointing. My fiancĂ©âs fish was tasteless, my flat iron steak and mash didnât seem to be seasoned at all, my aunts Yorkshire pudding was rock solid and the prawn crackers that came with my sisters Thai curry were inedible. Iâm not a fussy eater, but I tried some of her prawn cracker and it was gross. It was chewy and tasted stale. All of the food as well seemed to have been sitting under a heat lamp, my food wasnât even as hot as lukewarm. We then had another long wait for our table to be cleared, and an even longer wait to get desert menus and be able to order what we wanted. We didnât want to cause a fuss as my gran was treating us all but have since emailed the restaurant to complain.
The service we received was embarrassingly bad, so disappointing as I used to really enjoy coming here. Definitely wonât be back, Iâve rated two stars as I liked my starter. I donât really complain a lot as I find it awkward, but Iâve never had such terrible service in a restaurant before. Particularly disappointing as The Coach House isnât a cheap place to eat, itâs...
