We as a family have enjoyed many meals at the Dormy & always thoroughly enjoyed. So because of this we chose this venue to celebrate one of our groups birthday. To say we were disappointed is an understatement as the fact is, it has to be one of the worst meals out we’ve ever had! We happily pay a high price for good quality food but it is a disgrace what was served up. The fish hadn’t been filleted properly & was full of bones, plus the batter was so greasy & hard. The majority of chips were solid & inedible. The lasagna was just thick stodgy mince & white sauce with absolutely no flavour & was served with a scatter of lettuce leaves dumped at the side like an afterthought! To make matters even worse it was obvious that Covid-19 restrictions were not being taken seriously & in fact we couldn’t wait to leave. We were told not to bother wearing a mask unless we really wanted to. No care taken to keeping distance & tables just as they usually are, no screens or distance between! Put it this way if it hadn’t been that we got a table right at the back we would have had to leave & having tasted the awful food it’s a pity we didn’t! We have eaten out at a few different restaurants & hotels since restrictions have eased & this is the first time we felt unsafe, you actually wouldn’t think anything was different other than the staff wearing masks. When small businesses, that certainly don’t bring in the profits of this place, can manage to follow the Scottish Government guidelines it’s a disgrace what we witnessed...

A relaxed and casual dining experience at The Dormy, Gleneagles

Located in the clubhouse of Gleneagles’ golf course, The Dormy offers a perfect blend of comfort, elegance, and stunning fairway views. Whether you’re finishing a round of golf or simply looking for a laid-back yet refined dining experience, this restaurant delivers on all aspects.

Began with a Caesar salad, featuring crisp bread, a well-balanced dressing, and just the right amount of Parmesan. Alongside it, the prawn and crab cocktail was a highlight. It was fresh, chilled seafood served in a light, creamy sauce and tangy lime have complemented the delicate sweetness of the shellfish.

For mains, the smoked haddock was beautifully prepared, wonderful texture and flavorful, with just the right amount of smokiness. The Scottish sausage in gravy sauce was rich and meaty, with a deep, savory taste that felt very indulgent. Both dishes showcased high-quality ingredients cooked to perfection.

Dessert was the signature crème brûlée, which did not disappoint. The caramelized sugar top had the ideal crispness, giving way to a smooth, creamy custard with a deep vanilla flavor—a delightful way to end the meal.

Beyond the food, The Dormy offers a well-stocked bar featuring a selection of fine whiskies and expertly crafted cocktails, making it an ideal spot for a post-dinner drink. With its picturesque setting, warm atmosphere, and expertly prepared dishes, The Dormy at Gleneagles is a must-visit for both golfers and...

The venue is lovely. This is the clubhouse for the 5 star Gleneagles hotel. It's historically expensive. You can 100% get better food and service at several of the local Auchterarder restaurants but they don't include the view. Our meal was served in 2 parts: kids first, then adults. We weren't asked about this and would have preferred to dine as a family. We asked to be moved in an empty restaurant, they had to think about this. It should have been an instant 'no problem'. We asked for a straw for a drink - twice. My 11yr old was served off the kids menu on a plate for a 2 yr old. Had to ask for a proper plate. My son's minute steak was luke warm at best. Finally they had charged for a more expensive wine. I'd add that the kids meals seem to have made a remarkable (but not stellar) improvement having resembled microwave meals in the past. Gleneagles should be about fine tuning that 1% with 99% perfection but as per every other time, they dine off their name and location, not by being the best (something they charge for yet seldom follow through on). There also seems to be huge inconsistency in the application of their distasteful 'discretionary' 12% service charge. Make sure you have this removed for all of the...

Terrible coffee, staff knowledge of what they are selling was incredibly poor. They advertise “Cafetière Coffee, Gleneagles Blend”, which after debating with two staff, one manager and their barista, I can confirm is just filter coffee made in the back and put into a lovely cafetière pot 🤦🏼‍♂️. When I tried explain that the coffee grinds should be in my pot so it can be brewed, I was told that I must be “looking for a French press”, eh yes, french press & cafetière are the same thing 🤦🏼‍♂️. FYI - also love a filter coffee but the reason for questioning what I had been served was that their filter was very poor, weak and stewed. Must do better.

What a fantastic afternoon in the Dormy, Staff were truly amazing, friendly and very helpul. The food was first class, suffice to say the Chicken Bacon and Leek Pie was delicious which my daughter and I both had, my husband had the Chicken Balmoral, son in law and Grandson had pizza's and Grandaughter had Lasagne, all commented these meals were by far the best they had tasted. Beautiful place to celebrate our daughters 40th and finish our day by all sitting around the fire playing chess reading newspapers while enjoying a relaxing drink before leaving to come home. Thankyou Natasha, David and all staff in the Dormy.
