I don't think writing rude, snarky reviews are particularly helpful to owners, but I do think offering feedback is important to improve service.

The service - When we went in, the chap on the bar told us to take a seat. He mentioned nothing about the menu being on a board and that you order food at the bar. He should have been trained to have an opening script about how ordering works, that would stop customers sitting at an empty (and sadly rather sticky) table waiting for a menu that would never come. I eventually went to the bar and spotted the menu tacked to a beam. It wasn't particularly obvious - it's small and easy to walk past without noticing it, which is exactly what we did. The writing was barely ledgible.

The cappuchino I ordered was not a cappuchino. It was basically a flat white and very, very strong. The cup came without a teaspoon. I tried to catch the attention of the waiter to ask for one but he kept walking passed us without acknowledging me (which he did the whole time we were there, apart from when he served our food) so I used the handle end of my fork to stir my coffee in the end. We got a couple of biscuits about 5 minutes after the coffee arrived which I think were supposed to be on the saucer with a teaspoon. Still no teaspoon and the waitress rushed off so quickly I was unable to ask for one.

The staff - the chap on the bar was quite clearly new and had been left entirely alone during what was a pretty busy lunch rush. He didn't know how to pull a pint properly and he struggled to find bottles and glasses. There only seemed to be the one waiter, who, again, was inexperienced and clearly shy, and a waitress who's only job seemed to be to make the coffees and stand next to the bar watching everything. Nowhere near enough staff to effectively manage the busy restaurant.

The food - was hot when it arrived, but the chips were very pale. They were cooked, but not browned off at all, so they didn't look cooked. The burger was very thin and was dripping with too much relish. The condiments were mucky. The refillable ketchup bottle had crusty ketchup scum around the top, the salt shaker was so bunged up that the salt wouldn't come out and the vinegar (as well as the ketchup) was half empty. The sugar only had white sachets and again, was half empty.

The location was lovely, an old inn in a tiny village, in the middle of the Scottish countryside. The low ceilings and exposed beams gave it a wonderful olde world feel. It has the potential to be a fantastic destination restaurant, if only the service and the food...

Me and my husband went out for some food and chose to go to The Inn at pool of muckart. We called to book a table but they dont do bookings you just turn up.We planned on staying at a dollar glen in our camper. We arrived around 7.45pm the place was very busy and smelt great. Everyone was eating and it all looked beautiful. We worried we wouldn't get a table but there was a wee table up the back. It wasn't great felt like we were stuck inbetween 2 big tables of families eating. But it turned out to be fine. We both couldn't decide what to have because everything sounded great but we ended up ordering sirloin steak. It was cooked beautifully I'm sure on a grill as it had that flame grilled taste. It was served with homemade chips.they were so good.2 potato croquettes I loved them. Fried mushrooms, onion rings and salad. Staff were really attentive and friendly. We shared a chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. The ice cream wasn't up to much it tasted cheap. But other than that it was great. We will...

My 24 year old son and I went to lunch to the Inn at Muckhart on Saturday 11th October.|There were plenty of tables available but the restaurant was still busy which we thought was a good sign. |Service was excellent. We were advised to choose from the chalk board menu which we took a photo of. No problem. We paid at the bar and that was easy enough.|Had it not been for the quality of the food this would be a 5 star review.|I would have made much better at home. I wouldn't have served that to my family without an apology first. |Tasted like a piece of frozen salmon had been boiled, frozen oven chips with frozen peas and carrots also boiled then a sauce over the top that looked pretty poor too.|I ate it purely because it was edible. I'd already paid at the bar. Then we left. |They seriously need to get a chef in or someone who can cook decent meals. I never leave reviews.|I'd gladly go back if I'd learned the food had improved. Its kind of the main reason you go though. |Hope they make...

Superb establishment, excellent home made food, wonderful menu. Well stocked bar with great fine ales. Delicious home made soup. Quality lattes. Dog friendly. Plenty of parking to rear. Very friendly, helpful hospitality. Highly recommend a visit, such lovely ambiance be it in the cosy traditional bar area or the spacious extension. Really highly recommend be it a quick bar snack while passing through area or a delightful lunch or dinner with assurance the food, drink, place and staff are absolutely worth a visit. Also colourful flower display outside, superb well done The Inn at Muckhart.

I can't comment on the rooms as we only went for a meal. First impression was a quiet wee place, an old feel to the bar and part of the restaurant. Met with a smile and shown to a table very quickly. Ordering of meals is at the bar. We both had a very delicious fish and chips and a pot of tea. For £14.95 the fish was worth it. There is WiFi and I do get the feeling that at times it may get busy, so I would advise to check ahead and maybe book a table. I look forward to another visit in the future.

Staying near Crook of Devon and decided a round walk route with a pub lunch stop. The Inn had good reviews so off we went. Easily found a table as it was midweek and although the menu was limited there was still plenty choice. Chose Steak pie which is what all pubs will be judged on, fish and chips with a couple of pints. Good food, and quick service. Would recommend for anyone having lunch or dinner in the area. We carried on and completed our 9.5 mile walk and glad we made the trip.
