This was a stop on one of our cruise excursions. A respite from a day of touring. We enjoyed a modest lunch of a deconstructed pot pie of sorts. Lots of beverages such as tea, beer, wine, and spirits. Off of the main road and if you didn't know it was there...you'd miss this lovely gem! Staff was very friendly and welcoming!

A true hidden gem! The food and atmosphere were outstanding, and the service made the experience even better. Tucked away in a quiet suburban neighborhood, the restaurant sits inside a charming teal-themed old house that instantly gives off a warm, homey vibe. Every dish felt crafted with care.

We had a lovely Sunday roast at The Inn at Torbex! The roast beef was cooked to perfection and I loved the giant Yorkshire pudding! This was our first visit here but it certainly won’t be our last! The staff were lovely and the prices reasonable.

Terrible experience last night ...Friday 8th February for a place that's normally so good. My wife treated me to an early Valentines gift of a meal. Began with a starter of Scallops...very nice. Next course I ordered Chicken with Satay Sauce ...a dish I've had previously and is normally lovely which I ordered with a side of fries. My wife ordered steak and chips. The food arrives with chiken and rice....no satay sauce ...a side of chips and no chips with the steak ! Waiter offers a new dish i say its ok just provide the sauce and provide also the chips which should have come with the steak. Waiiter takes away the chicken and rice then returns with the satay sauce 10 mins later..returns my original chicken abd rice which is now cold !!...still no chips for my wife for her steak !! Shocking !!! The chicken and rice and side of chips and suace are taken away cooked fresh and when returned ...guess what ? Chicken and rice again with no sauce and no chips for my wife !!!....night ruined and had enough....complained to the manager...hopeless...no empathy ...no apology....no nothing....removes the chicken and rice from the bill then still charges my wife £53 for the steak she had...minus chips. Aceepted we had a couple of drinks too. Absolutely disgusted and will not be back. Torbrex have lost a lot of key managers recently who were fantastic...abd apparently a new chef. Service standards here are clearly going down hill.

One very angry...

Firstly the food was lovely but what lets it down is the service. We were sat next to a very large party of children which meant the atmosphere was very loud (understandably) but if you have tables available in the rest of the restaurant it would have been nicer to sit there instead of quite squished where people were constantly bashing into our table from the kids table. I don’t blame them they are kids it happens and they were mostly well behaved regardless. We took a while for our order to be taken and it was around half an hour for food to arrive. We were asked what condiments we wanted but they didn’t arrive until after we had finished? We had asked twice as well whilst we were eating. We also asked for more drinks and the waiter asked twice what we ordered before we got them. Also we asked for the dessert menu but we were never asked what we wanted. We had to ask another waitress for the bill as by that point we had been waiting a considerable time for our waiter to see us again. I understand being busy but the tables around us were having the same problem, having to remind the waiter about what they had ordered, more drinks or that they wanted the bill. You can say why don’t you say anything at the time but we did ask for things multiple times before they showed up or...

We walked in at the back of six on a Sunday night and thought 'oh oh'. The place was mobbed. It didn't bode well. We had to wait a couple of minutes before a waitress attended to us. I expected slow service and rushed cooking. I'm delighted to tell you that the service was great and the food even better. We were shown to a quieter table upstairs, which suited us down to a tee. It was great fare, my ribeye steak could not have been cooked better. Tender and juicy with a delicious peppercorn sauce. The waitress apologised for not knowing which flavours of J2O they had and nipped off to check, she explained it was her first day, but I couldn't tell and didn't mind in the slightest. Who knows things like that anyway? First visit, it won't be the last. People can't get enough of Malky McEwan, bestselling author. His number one guide to Scotland 'If it Wasn't for the Midges' is available in paperback and on kindle at Amazon. Oh boy, another one who almost...
