I visited scotland for a little over 2 weeks, spent a few days in the Edinburgh and Cupar areas, and rode 1200 miles around the north of Scotland, including the NC500, with a couple of buddies on motorcycles. Without the ability to prepare more than camp meals while traveling, we ate out quite a bit and I’ll say in that time I had more than my share of a full English and a full Scottish breakfast. That said, of all the hotels, restaurants, and cafes we stopped at across the entire country, including my meals in airports and finer dining in Edinburgh, this coffee shop provided the best meal I had anywhere. The portion was quite generous for the price and everything was delicious. I had to rest partway through the meal to get through it, it was so large. Furthermore, and I mean this literally and without hyperbole, I had The Best Cup of Coffee I’ve ever had in my entire life while there. I acknowledge that setting a high bar for your coffee is a losing battle as most good coffee is mediocre at best - however, the beans they use and the way they were ground and brewed/pulled yielded such a complex blend of subtle aromas and flavors as I had never before had. The previous best cup of coffee I’d had was a cup of cold brew at a shop that closed down several years ago, so please don’t let that fate befall this shop. If you’re in the area - anywhere NEAR Ladybank, take a few minutes to enjoy a meal and a cup of coffee at The Kilt Maker’s Coffee Shop. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back, so have a cup for me and a cup for all of us poor deprived Texans who don’t have access such great...
Read moreI have tried pineapple cheese cake, raspberry cheesecake, plum cheesecake and mixed berry cheesecake, they are all totally scrumptious. Ordering another one I think we decided on galaxy, but there are so many other choices; it won’t make any difference as we want to try them all! Last week my daughter tried carrot cake, she enjoyed that too, which surprised us as she has never been a cake eater. My daughter is a diagnosed coeliac and on a strict gluten free diet, this wee cafe caterers for that. Good to find somewhere that they understand being a diagnosed coeliac is not a choice it’s a strict way of life and very limiting. To find somewhere that can give a choice of light meals and snacks is good to know, as over the years we have had bad experiences in some of the large chain store cafes and restaurants. My two favourite food places next door to each other Kiltmakers Coffee Shop and Ladybank...
Read moreI ordered the eir specialty… a homemade roll. There are a lot of fillings to choose from. I choose the cheeses scrambled eggs with bacon. Literally the BEST scrambled eggs I have ever had! And she asked me how I want my bacon cooked. 🙌 So so good! My friend is gluten free and she ordered a tuna melt toasty and just cheese toast and said they were both very good. We even ordered more to go because it can be hard finding...
