Any opportunity our family have, we take trips to Scotland, driving the 8 hours from Wales, knowing we will find a warm welcome everywhere we go. The hospitality of the Scots, together with spectacular scenery and great food make it well worth the journey. In all those years we have never felt unwelcome until we went into the Kirkstyle Inn, Dunning. It is obviously frequented by locals, a local place for local people. They were very busy and there were no tables available inside for dinner so we decided to go into their covered beer garden for drinks and pizza. There were occupied tables to our left and right, both having food, but when we went to order they told us they were not serving food outside. This obviously wasnât true because everyone around us was eating, without a reservation. This upset the table next to us, so much so, that one of the diners went inside to fight our corner and ask why they wouldnât serve us food. At that point some large lady came into the beer garden and said the food served outside had been a mistake but we could not have food. She was rude and belligerent. No apology for clearly only feeding favourite customers. We were definitely victimised here, for no reason I can think of. We didnât make a fuss, just drank up and left. It was so nice of other customers to express their disappointment at how we were treated. I would never recommend this place to visitors. Go at your own risk! They clearly have a captive audience in a small village with no other pubs around. Itâs sad they think as a result of their monopoly they can choose to be so dismissive of the people who provide their living. My background is hospitality, hotel management and I can honestly say the customers are our valued bread and butter, never a hindrance. For info we are a couple in our 60s (one celebrating his 60th) adult daughter and fiancĂ©. So disappointing and clearly not the norm for this wonderful part...

A tattie scone isn't cooked to a burnt state. An open plan bath I accept but a toilet too??? No way...NOT even in these modern times. As for the sing & dance about eggs, as she put it herself, her favourite chef sent out an overcooked fried egg but they didn't mark as harshly as she did "4"!!!! The other 2 participants were impressed by what she told them about herself and praised her but she didn't have ANYTHING positive to say about them. As for her advice re pastries etc....where & when did she serve even cereal? They had to complete a pre order breakfast.....cheapskate....especially for £125 a night, for a cold room, leaking roof and no shower curtain. How cheeky off her to imply it was the guests fault for spilling the water outside the bath tub....I cldnt believe her comments. We r planning to come to Perth & perthshire during our tour of UK, hence why we r watching 4 in a bed. We all honestly would stay at the Inn (with an enclosed bathroom) but her attitude & big miss know it all mouth has seriously put us off. She found someone else's bathroom aqua panelling needing a face-lift yet all her rooms have been filled with antique furniture with mis match decor?? If & when u get rid off her then please do let us know, we would book straight away to make a special visit AND recommend you to the rest off pir...

From the first moment we stepped inside the cosy bar we felt very welcome and relaxed. The bar & restaurant is old and full of charm, two blazing fires and lots of comfy seats. The locals are lovely and also made us feel welcome. One of the most important features for us was the âdog friendlyâ aspect and in this regard they did not disappoint. Our little old boy stayed with us the whole time, was given frequent treats and pets. |We stayed in room 2 in the separate building next door. No coat required to nip back to the pub, itâs so close. The room was immaculate, spacious and had fluffy towels, tea & coffee facilities, a few nice toiletries and lots of charm. As a side note (and it didnât bother us at all) this room has an âen suiteâ which doesnât have a door. The dividing wall is 3/4 high. I imagine this has something to do with the buildingâs listed status and there may have been challenges in installing a âproperâ en suite. If youâre in aâŠ.new relationship youâre probably going to have some reservations about this. There are other rooms with full en suites. Absolutely not an issue for us and itâs so well done. |We ate breakfast and dinner both nights and the quality was excellent. Really well done simple pub grub, fantastic wines. The bar is well stocked for even the most discerning drinker. |Overall a delightful weekend and exactly...
