A friend suggested we meet for lunch as we hadn't caught up for a while and sent me a a link to a 'place near Kilmarnock' As we're both from Glasgow, i wondered why we travelling 30mins to for lunch. But wow. What a location. And somewhere i will be bringing the better half soon. I should have taken more photos of the surroundings because location is absolutely stunning. But hopefully smarter people than me have posted photos. The food was great. I had the mushroom starter and lamb burger for the main. Finished off by the amazing salted caramel cheesecake (a special of the day so i'm sorry if you miss out!). The food is all cooked fresh so it's not a place to rush in and out of. Take your time, stare out the window. The scenery is stunning. There are also lots of historic items - eg uniforms on the way to the toilets (very clean and eco friendly) I've been to Kilmarnock, Stewarton, Fenwick etc dozens of times and never knew about this hidden gem (sorry for the cliche). So at the risk of "ruining it" - I'm leaving a very positive review. There's outward bound (zip line, team building events) onsite and a stunning castle nearby too. So you could make a day of it. Also i should say the staff were excellent . Even with the fits and bursts of people coming in there were always polite, friendly and attentive. Oh and if you're lucky you might meet the Laird and Lady! Tell them i said hi!

Just a few photos as the cafe / restaurant is probably a week or two away from being completed. The building overlooks the fishing lake and makes for a very calm atmosphere within with decently spaced tables which makes a change! Many interesting ‘finds’ from the Main House are tastefully displayed and the waney edged chestnut tables made from a tree on the Estate - well I found them hard to leave. The breakfast, lunch and tea menus (also planning Friday and Saturday evenings soon I think when the Licence is granted) will be a welcome addition to the area. The kitchen is light and airy and would lend itself well to catering for a large family gathering - I’m planning! Friendly service from the family and team make for a lovely break in the day. I am going to have to work out who to bribe for slightly lighter food for those of us who are meant to be cutting down! I am going to have to find a taxi service. I will review again when it is fully up and running meanwhile get there with a large group before you have to book weeks ahead.

Have come here for Lombards Rally Race and this place offered a “take away menu” for the spectators. If I could rate this experience in crumbs, I would. I paid £6 for a “toastie” that was roughly the size of a coaster, and about as flavourful, LITERALLY no thicker than 2cm, thinner than paper. Calling it a toastie is generous—it was more like two slices of cardboard whispering about cheese. I ordered 2, one for me and my son, plus a bottle of water and a tea, and the damage came to an eye-watering £18.50. For that kind of money, I expect at least a sandwich and not something that looks like it was confiscated from a toddler’s lunchbox. The Lairds Table clearly sees a captive audience at the rally and thinks, “perfect, let’s fleece them.” They succeeded. But never again. If you’re considering eating here, do yourself a favour: lick the inside of your wallet instead, it will have more flavour and save you the crushing disappointment. Avoid this place like a pothole at 90mph.

The way you treat anglers is shocking and the way you respond to them is a cop out. You don’t have fisher folk coming into your establishment because of the way you treat them and when called out about your treatment your response is shocking. The majority of your responses have nothing to do with what people complain about or you making an excuse for it. And you choosing to put your employees pay checks up by 22% doesn’t mean a sandwich should cost over £10. If you choose to raise your employees wage that much the customers shouldn’t be the ones who suffer for it, it’s not the customers fault you raise your wages so high but don’t actually have the money to pay them without making your prices silly amounts for food that isn’t that great. You’re a cafe at a fishery not a 5 star restaurant. Keep in mind the place was and still is a fishery first and you should be treating all your customers with respect regardless of why they are there, especially if they’re coming in to pay and eat. I used to love coming up to the fishery because the staff were so lovely and welcoming now you can’t use the toilet without being looked at as if you don’t belong there. All you have to do is look at your reviews to see you guys are the reason the place has gone down hill and why so many fisher folk have said they won’t be returning. You are your own problem and refusing to admit it just makes...

We decided to treat ourselves to our 27th wedding anniversary lunch with my sister and her partner today Sunday 29th July and due to recommendations we chose The Lairds Table. We were not too surprised by the building works still in progress but once inside we were put at a bench style very uncomfortable seat by the door which will become a fire exit when the main entrance is finished. We did feel as though we were not really part of the room and at one point received an apology from our server if we felt forgotten due to our position as there was a screen by us to keep the draft out of the rest of the restaurant. Service was very slow it took nearly 2 hours to get to desert. The food was okay but we did expect better. The roast beef was over cooked and the dishes which were quite dry had clearly been sitting under heat lamps before being seved. The starters and deserts were lovely. We did point out the fact that the seat was not comfortable and were told cushions had been ordered. The gentleman in charge offered an apology and a gesture of goodwill was made. All in all we were disappointed as it was not as we expected due to reviews we had been given by friends and sadly we probably will not return...
