I stopped in here for 'breakfast' on the way home from a few days away. That was my first mistake. It was approx 11.40am I was informed they were just finishing breakfast and changing to lunch. I asked if they were still doing breakfast, I was informed yes but this would be changing in 10 min. I was offered breakfast but didn't like the breakfast menu they had. That was my second mistake. So I chose from the lunch menu. I ordered a toastie, advertised on the menu with salad and chips and, also ordered a latte. My luke warm latte came approx 10 min prior to my toastie. By the time my toastie came my coffee was finished and as someone who enjoys a drink with there meal i then ordered a black coffee to have with my toastie. My toastie came with a handful of rocket salad leaves with a drizzle of dressing accompanied by a handful of crisps. The toastie was the worst I had ever experienced. It was 'well" toasted and heaven knows what they done to the bread as this was smeared/soiled in some sort of grease. Toastie: the actual bread was as thin as the crisps with a taste that I can only say was as oily as an oil slick . Seriously one of the worst toasties ever experienced. On a positive note, the second cup of coffee (I ordered black as I knew at least it would be warm) was good. I went up to pay my bill, I wasn't asked if I enjoyed my food which in this case was a 'good job' as I wouldn't have held back. Would I go there again: No I certainly wouldn't. Was it value for money: No, it certainly was not worth £9.00 odds - not for 2 greasy slices of 'well done' bread, a very small handful of crisps and a small handful of leaves. The black coffee was very nice but if your thinking if ordering a latte I would ensure you ask them fir a "hot" latte. Very...
Read moreWasn't impressed with my first visit here. Requested eggs were cooked through and they came runny. Sent them back and the owner then came out to have a go at me about them being soft cooked eggs on the menu. Not everyone can eat eggs that aren't properly cooked and his attitude was completely uncalled for. Staff seemed really nervous to be working there, like they were walking on glass. Some parts of the dish were piping hot, while others that should have been hot on the plate were cold. People that came in long after us were served their food before us. Manager seems to have an attitude problem. Won't be going back as I don't want to be served attitude along with my food.
Edit to reply to owners response: Bad attitude clearly displayed in response. You're right, we never had "quoted conversation" as when you marched up to our table to let us know is was a soft poached egg on the menu after wee had to send them back after specifically requesting they be cooked through, you hardly made eye contact or let us reply before marching back into the kitchen. Staff member was left shaking at our table having to rectify your ignorance and rudeness towards us. He actually gave us an apology for something he didn't do. Girl who was on till was so flustered by you she had a hard time concentrating putting through our bill. Genuine review of experience had a...
Read moreThis is THE best cafe anywhere ... I'm serious . I'm NOT a coffee drinker but the coffee in here is in a category all of its own. It's not first class ... it's above and beyond first class and of superb quality . It's delicious ... and as I said I'm not a coffee drinker , or rather I wasn't ! The reason for that is that every coffee I've tasted before coming in here was awful so I drank tea for years . The coffee here is smooth . It's the King or Queen of coffees. That's the coffee . If I start describing the atmosphere , the music , the CAKES and the food ... smashed avocado for example , I'll write a characteristic tome . This cafe is worth driving from GLASGOW to sample . If you think I'm exaggerating , try it out for yourself . I guarantee you'll be writing better reviews than this one...
