Oh dear.. the owner obviously doesn’t like tourists or customers in August! No smile, no ‘please’ when telling me how much I had to pay, abrupt and unfriendly. Not a hint of a suggestion she welcomed my custom. A tiny tiny hot chocolate and a skinny slice of cake £4.50. Both of poor quality.Very disappointing. I can’t believe post Covid and the lack of normal custom/ life everyone has had, that a service provider can be SO unfriendly and rude.I deliberately went there to add to the local community and ‘help’ but I sadly wish I hadn’t. Don’t recommend at all. We all have bad days but you have to smile and let the customer feel confident in buying from you. Come on Sandwich Station… lift your game and fall in love with your industry again! UPDATE…. I went back a day later and what a difference. The two younger ( owners?) were serving and it was a completely different place! Fantastic sandwiches, speedy service and a really really pleasant experience with delicious food. Glad to bring you my custom…. But not on a Sunday with the...
Read moreSituated right near the Lochranza ferry terminus, The Sandwich Station greets you every-time you land on or set sail from here. The crowd builds up during the ferry times, which is why it is always a good idea to reach a little early.
I've tried multiple breakfast rolls, sandwiches (Five Spiced Pork Shoulder Sandwich, Chorizo and Caramelized Onion Sandwich, Skipness Salmon and Cream Cheese Sandwich) coffee and ice cream here over four days and the food has always been delicious, filling and consistently great. They use great bread as well and usually have a rotating menu of sandwiches with a rotating array of bread. The quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. If you are nearby; walk, bus or ferry to this place and you will not be disappointed.
There's a place to sit down as well if you are waiting for the ferry or the bus. A rare public loo is also...
Read moreWOW. This place is an oasis in the desert. Was in Arran for the weekend and got dropped off at the nearest bus station to this little shop. People were immediately lining up at 8:30am here, and I knew from the wonderful smells it was going to be something special. As a very picky vegetarian, I’m very hard to please. Ordered the celeriac and crispy shallot sandwich, and who would have thought celeriac could taste so good?! It was roasted and slightly spicy, perfectly complemented by crispy shallots and garlicky baba ganoush, with a little sprinkling of greens to round things out. A fabulous balance of textures and flavors, and even the sourdough was amazing. I was so floored by this sandwich that when I got home I had to try to recreate it. I would go back to Arran just to grab another delectable bite at the...
