Second visit to the Tipsy Cow in the space of a couple of weeks. First time the food was lovely and there were no issues, I really enjoyed it.
However, we went yesterday for a wee afternoon/evening out. My husband had booked a booth at 3.30 and was told that we would have it until 7.30. We had a round of drinks and our main courses, and were just finishing another round, when the bill was brought to us without us requesting it. We were told that it was 5.30 and the next party were waiting for the booth so we'd need to move. My husband proceeded to tell the guy, "no we've got the booth for another 2 hours, I spoke to Morgan on the phone when I booked it last weekend and she said table back for 7.30?" We were told, "there's nothing I can do about that, you only get a 2 hour slot (Maybe your staff need to be trained to tell people that??) which is now up, you really need to move now."
Totally embarrassed. Treated like a couple of scallies that walked in off the street and swiped someone's reservation. I am absolutely disgusted. We left the rest of our drinks, settled the bill and walked out. We will not be back. The venue is nice and the quality of the food is good for a local place, I would have happily came in here and spent £100 on a wee afternoon / evening out once every couple of weeks. Fourways, Il Capo or Mondo will be getting my hard-earned cash from now on. We weren't the only people they did this with on Saturday, I spoke to a couple of ladies as we were leaving, who had the same done to them without any prior warning, and I've seen other Facebook reviews saying the same thing.
if they keep this up they won't be in business...
Read moreDon’t normally complain have been to tipsy cow on numerous occasions, and never had an issue with service. Was there on the 6th of January for meal again on the 13th of January and tonight the 14th of January celebrating my birthday and my grand daughters. Table booked for 3 o’clock did not get seated until 3.20 which was acceptable as we had made a mistake with the numbers, was booked for 12 instead of 15 so will let that one slide. But once we had been seated and drinks were ordered waited at least 15 to 20 min for drinks then waited another 20 to 25 min before order was taken which we had to ask for someone to take it, did say to staff about the length of time we had been waiting only to be told my manager well you did only book for 12 to which I replied yes we did, but we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for table, and that really has nothing to do with the length of time we have had to wait for drinks and order to be taken. Chicken tikka was definitely not their usual standard, nor was there salt and chilli chicken which is normally my favourite meals. Drinks were forgotten wrong drinks brought, stater plates left on table main meal dishes left on table,. Really disappointed on service and quality of food definitely not what I was expecting, and was embarrassed as I had invited people who had not been there before and I had told them how great it is in there. I have never eaten with such a high number of people, in tipsy cow normally just four off us so can only assume staff cannot deal with high number, really am...

First the Good Decor inside was nice and place had a decent atmosphere inside. Food was very nice and everyone in our party agreed and there was 15 of us.
I had steak pie. Was very nice. The veg was a tad cold and soggy but the pie more than made up for it.
Staff were polite enough. Not sure the waitresses should have phones hanging out their back pockets, but heyho, they were nice enough.
The bad From being seated at our table to having our food order taken was almost an hour. The food took ages to prepare as well after ordering. We sat down at 4pm, started eating at 5.50pm. Wasn't a problem for us as there was a lot of us and everyone was chattering, however I could see some 'couples' getting irritated by the service times.
There are no soft furnishings inside to dampen sound, so the brick wall and massive windows means that it can very easily get very noisy and echoey with chitter chatter. Especially as it got more busy.
Right at the door at either side was big bucket full of cigarette ends. The were overflowing and over the pavement as well. Needs a tidy. Wasn't the nicest thing to navigate on the way into...
