I Went there tonight. So I read reviews on the trawler, first . But I thought I'd give it a go. I've done a few jobs in my time, as in food hygiene, health and safety , health and hygiene inspector etc. I walked in to see food all over the 'kitchen/storage area' floor, and the main serving area, dirty worktops, food containers stored right beside the rubbish bin, onion rings and chips on the floors. A big plastic bucket with chips in, which the young man once he had filled a chip holder for the fryer threw the bucket back in to the uncooked chips, And all combined I thought straight away of food poisoning, so anyway I took the food away, the chips really weren't great at all, and the kingrib would've been reasonably 'fine' without the burnt batter. I wont be going back again. I can only advise the owner/manager to clean up the place before health and hygiene inspectors turn up, see that and shut you down until sorted. I'd hoped the bad reviews on the place were wrong, but obviously not. Sorry for the ' Dissing ' but something needs to change in there before there's anymore cases of people being ill after eating there, which I've already read after 3 people having the fish. I'm going to be well annoyed if I'm ill through the night as I'm due in hospital first thing in...

When I Used To Order From Here,They Did One Of The Best Battered Smoked Sausage Suppers In The North Of Scotland. That Was The Case Until Friday 4th July 2025. Unfortunately,When I Tried To Order A Single Battered Smoked Sausage And Onion Rings For My Lunch. But Unfortunately,The Man Couldn't Hear My Voice When I Was Ordering It,Which Was An Absolute Shame. I Think Maybe He Doesn't Like People Like Me Who Talk Quietly. What An Honest Let Down That Visit. I Ended Up Not Eating Anything At All When I Was In Golspie. Don't Get Me Wrong,The Man Was And Probably Still Is Friendly And Professional At What He Does,But Maybe Don't Come Here If Your Voice Is Too Quiet Like Mine. So For Now,I'm Probably Going To Avoid The Trawler. I Know That Sounds Horrible,But I Just Want To Tell It As It Is. Overall,What Shambles. I Wish Everyone Good Luck Ordering Here,Because The Food Is Fantastic,But It's Just When Your Voice Is Too Quiet,That Is What Will Certainly Let The Experience Down For You. It Is Just Advice In General,So There Is No Need To Avoid It If You Have Good Experiences Of This Great Fish And Chip Shop. I Used To Have Good Experiences,But Since That Incident,Probably I Might Avoid This Fish And Chip Shop For Now,Until Things...

Went here after we saw everything else was shut nearby. Ordered a single fish, single chicken, single king rib and a portion of chips, ended up getting suppers for everything and a portion of chips, must of been my glaswegian accent 😂 food did not disappoint in the slightest, probably the best chippy we've ever had. The fish was really thick and fresh, the king rib was so juicy I almost wish I ordered one for myself and the chicken was cooked to perfection, we have also never tasted chips so fresh and so fluffy, 10 out of 10 for the food! We didnt expect much as it was closing time for everything but they were so friendly and welcoming even though it was 30 minutes till closing time, they even cooked our chicken in separate oil as my mother has an intolerance to gluten, we didnt ask for this and think they went over and beyond our expectations. We would all recommend this place for anyone to eat, just watch out for the monster sized seagulls waiting to attack you on the way out! Definitely...

Paulina was lovely and couldn't have been more accommodating. The gluten free fish and chips were delicious..some of the best gf batter I've had....and then she showed me cake!!...being dairy and gluten intolerant i barely get to have dessert so when I found i could have the lemon polenta cake it was a done deal....absolutely lovely place to eat..we both devoured our meals!. Paulina was a great host and was more than happy to chat..would definitely go again if I'm up this way ...keep it up Paulina..esp the gf/df baking ❤️

Went here based on the reviews that I had read on Google, only to be thoroughly disappointed. We ordered 3 fish suppers and a pizza supper for a total of £33. Now if it was really good I would have no qualms about the cost, but it was below average with soggy greasy chips and poor batter on the fish ( aka not light and crispy). Disappointment was heightened by the good reviews and a 5-hour journey to get here. Would not recommend to anyone, not even the dog. Just look at the photos for proof.

Was not the friendliest service we have had since being on Scotland. The menu was not very well explained and the menu is very hard to read with the light reflecting off it. Every thing we asked for was meet with a rolling of the eyes look. Also we got a pickle onion each for the 4 of us and have seen bigger peas then the size of the onions. Also got charged for a gravy we did not order and it was not even in the takeaway bag. They clearly not interested in serving to passing tourists.
