The Twisted Thistle — Restaurant in Scotland

First 2 times we went we had a great experience. Food served very quickly, was tasty and hot and the servers were very friendly. Third time we went we went with the family. Started great as we had a baby and were unfortunately that annoying table with the baby shouting every now and again. They gave us a baby seat and the girl was friendly with the baby. We ordered after half hour wait which wasn't a problem as they told us when we entered of this wait due to high volume of customers (three quarter full) and my brother requested no salad on his starter and no salad on hit burger. Starters came with salad next to his goujons and salad and sauce all over his goujons. Not impressed. It was taken back and they wiped off the salad and left the saucy salad on top. He told them he wanted no salad so they remade the goujons. Plain. Great. Later the main came and he had salad on his burger which he found out after taking a bite. You'd think they would exclude the salad after the starter fiasco but he left it on the plate and decided to eat KFC or something instead. After we all finished they asked how the food was and he asked if he could return the burger as he requested no salad. They initially said the ovens had been turned off (about 9pm) so he could have a refund. He said that's fine, but then moments later said he could have another so he said okay. Five mins later they returned the same burger with the salad wiped off. He refused as it was the same burger with his bite taken out. Probably not what I would have done as I have no balls but I do agree that they should not have just wiped the salad off and returned it. They then brought him a fresh burger out within a couple of minutes. He said the burger was great but he had lost his appetite due to eating the scraps of our food due to the nearly hour long wait so only managed half of it. Would rate a single star for that experience but we did have a great time the first 2 times we went so I'm rounding up to 3. Probably won't visit here again but I wouldn't advise against it if you're not picky as the food is great. Not much menu choice however but still good if they have what you want. Also no idea if you're supposed to go to the counter and pay or not as there are no signs and we are always waiting at the end for the bill. You can wave someone down and ask for bill but I'm too shy for that.

Also they do sex on the beach pitchers for 11 quid but not single glasses. We sat on the sofa type bit by the door and they are comfy. Chairs by window have great view of bridge when light. Curtains normally...

I was on holiday visiting from Canada, I visited the twisted thistle with my mum and I must say the service was impeccable and the servers were very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere and decor are lovely, I especially loved the fireplace which gave the restaurant a cozy feel and also the different colored chairs are lovely. The food was amazing and the meal was served hot which is very important usually it is not as hot as I would like it, also the passion fruit margarita I would highly recommend the cocktail is delicious. I would encourage you to make your next function or dinner at the Twisted Thistle , you will not be disappointed. I would also like to mention Lorna and lindsay Cullen were wonderful servers at the restaurant and made our visit especially rememberable. ...

Very busy on a Sunday but staff were still very friendly and attentive. The sea Bass was unbelievable, not what I would normally order but decided to order out of my comfort zone, I was not disappointed. Wow. I was able to order a side portion of rice also to soak up the delicious Thai green sauce. My friends were ordering cocktails which looked fantastic, I was on the cola but I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu and cocktails. My friends meals also looked delicious and they confirmed it, chicken fajitas, steak and onion flatbread (with the most chips I've seen on a plate) and the highland burger.
