I stayed a couple of nights at the Victoria Inn and enjoyed my stay; the staff are very nice and helpful, food in the downstairs restaurant is good and my room was large and quiet. There were nice touches such as supplied flannel, bottled water and breakast being served to 10am. There's also free parking close by, but the Council may change that. There was a notice that the hotel was 'work in progress' to I expect some of the quirks will be ironed out.||My room (no.5) was large with high ceilings and a large bathroom with shower over bath. The room had one armchair, but there was space for a desk and chair which would have been handy. The room was clean and comfortable, one quirk was the catflap in the door to the bathroom. Can you take being pet-friendly too far? :-) I'd have quite liked some net curtain on the bathroom windows even though you are on the top floor. I'd also like a 'grab rail' for safety when getting in and out of the shower-over-bath.||Dinner was excellent, large portions of very fresh fish and a wide range of tasty tapas. The restaurant is in the same room as the pub so can get lively, as it was on a Saturday. Breakfast is served in a upstairs room which doubles as a function room, another quirk was all the cereals were laid out on the covered pool table.||WiFi speed around the hotel was good but I did struggle with the TV/Sky TV in my room. I wasn't that bothered but could only get a few BBC channels on NowTV and the Sky remote seemed to have flat batteries. I'm sure the staff would have sorted it out but I was happy with YouTube. ||As mentioned all the staff were very pleasant and happy to help, even offering a loaner brolly when they saw I was heading out when it was tipping down. Room rates were reasonable, overall I'd be...
Read moreAfter not planning on a place to eat we wandered into this wonderful local establishment 2 minutes from the gig venue we were attending.
As soon as we walked in it was although we had been several times.
The staff were incredibly helpful, as although we hadn't booked (although I will definitely book in advance next time) they invited us to take a seat.
The service was warm, quick and felt like nothing would be a problem.
The menu was filled with a varied amount of dishes, each sounding better than the last.
The time between ordering and receiving our starters was minimal and when the food arrived it looked as good as the menu described and tasted sublime.
The staff were polite and efficient but not pushy and the food from the kitchen was well presented and tasted better than many meals I've eaten at other establishments.
5 Stars are hard to earn but...
