The West End Restaurant — Restaurant in Scotland

Food was fair, booked table 3 weeks prior to booking. On arrival was shown a table to use whilst waiting for our table in main area. Some time later waitress came for our order, I said we were ment to be in main room. She said no, this is you table. I was not over happy as my previous visit was really friendly. On several occaisions the service was poor, no staff at bar for drinks. The steak pies were warm but not piping hot. On our previous visit the food was top notch. Went here on Wednesday night for their advertised ( board outside) steak night. Arrived a little early so waited outside. After 1 hour gave up waiting and went to chip shop where we had a lovely freshly cooked chicken supper. Couldn't West End have put à note on the door informing customers they would be closed ??? We had travelled a distance to have a meal here. Other people also turned up whilst we were waiting. Not good enough West End restaurant!!! Very disappointed.! We happened on this restaurant on our way back to England with our 14 year old grandson. What a gem of a place. We were the only ones in there as it was nearly closing time, and we were needing a late lunch. The food was amazing and plentiful, the waitress was really nice and the restaurant itself was very smart and clean and very well presented. The log burner was a plus. We had 3 delicious courses for an amazing £9.95. We are looking forward to calling in there again and definitely will when we are next on...
