I must give both the restaurant and the room that I was staying in during my 2 day visit an outstanding review.

The restaurant: The food was delicious with a vegetarian tasting menu that was varied and unique. I only stayed 2 evenings and dined here both nights, with different choices each evening. Very, very good. And the individuals working there were so down to earth and friendly. As a lone traveler, I was treated with as much respect and attention as the table of 8 across the room, even though I obviously would not be spending near the amount of money as they were. Cannot give enough compliments to everyone and everything about my dining experience on both evenings.

The room: I was a tiny bit apprehensive when we pulled up and my driver was unloading my luggage. The area is very remote. Which I intentionally booked because of the remote location but REMOTE in this case, is a slight understatement. And, the walk from the accommodations to the restaurant, is a bit longer than anticipated as you must use the road to ensure a safe walk to the restaurant and back, due to the somewhat treacherous landscape surrounding the area. ALL of that said, it was PERFECT. Once I settled into the fact that I could easily and safely walk to the restaurant, by myself, as I was on a solo travel adventure, I relaxed and enjoyed the stunning beauty. There is a little convenience store within walking distance. I did not have a car so I asked my driver to stop so that I could pick ups some treats for breakfast, as well as a bottle of wine. They have many variaties of De-alcoholized wine available. I settled on a delicious bottle of Lindeman's Alcohol Free Semillon Chardonnay, which was quite delicious, and some yummy chocolate chip shortbread cookies and strong coffee for my breakfast. My evenings on the patio, and my breakfasts in the morning were amazing and just what I was desiring and needed. The views, room and amazing stars at night were incomparable.

I highly recommend both the rooms and the restaurant. You will not be...

This place is beyond wonderful. My husband and I had the privilege of dining here for dinner while on holiday in Scotland. It was truly amazing in every way. First the ambience and view was beyond stunning. With huge glass windows you get a perfect unobstructed view to the uig sands. It's the type of view you see in travel magazines and reminded me of the restaurants the uber rich fly to just for dinner. However, don't worry, this place is affordable for anyone! Second, the food was amazing. While it was hard to eat as my mouth kept falling open from the sheer beauty of the place, when I was able to eat, I had probably the best meal I have ever had. Both my husband and I had the same thing. We started with the seafood chowder and they did not skimp on any of the seafood! I had so much in my bowl I was getting full just off that. For our main course we had a perfectly cooked herb crusted cod with a crab and pee risotto and cooked greens. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! While I didn't care for the dessert (I had the rhubarb one), my husband loved his chocolate dessert. The restaurant of course made it right by taking the cost of the dessert off our bill. As my husband put it, I will never be able to top this anniversary dinner and he is right! Do yourself a favor and go here! We drove an hour from our hotel just to have dinner here and we'd drive further! It was...

Thanks for a lovely early evening dinner at Uig Sands. The food (we had smoked salmon, venison for me, scallops for her and brownies for dessert) was delicious and beautifully presented in a truly stunning venue. The views of the beach are unmatched. We had a slightly awkward welcome from one of the young waitresses, who seemed circumspect that we had arrived (perhaps they weren’t used to younger patrons?) but she warmed up after realising we had a reservation! The gentleman who served us for the rest of the evening was an absolute professional and very friendly. He was a particular credit to the business (apologies I didn’t catch his name but he mentioned he’s from the Midlands!). From my perspective all food courses were excellent, my compliments to the chef. Dessert was a highlight. Unfortunately their coffee machine was broken but they made a reasonable attempt at a cafetière batch in its place to complete the evening (no oat milk though, but that’s understandable). Overall an outstanding experience and hopefully...

We dined here last night as an early birthday meal for my husband. The location is stunning and despite the weather, it was still a great and interesting view from the table. The food was probably the best we have eaten all year, the smoked salmon starter was fantastic, the scallops main course on special was phenomenal and the lamb dish also great. Desserts felt a little underwhelming compared to the starters and mains, they were still very good but one complaint would be the popcorn served with the “donuts” was slightly burnt and the taste was then overpowering. Despite this I would still return even at the price of £75pp. I did feel the drinks prices were slightly off, £9.50 for a single gin and bottle of tonic water is very steep, I don’t think the prices should be so high when the meal is already on the pricey side.

Uig Sands Restaurant located.overlooking Carnish Bay sits in the perfect location. The service is very warm, welcoming and professional you feel at home as soon as you walk inside. The highlight of the location is of course the views which are special. The food is mostly local and the menu is a fixed price 5 course with options for starter, main and desserts. There is a great selection of drinks on offer and there were good non alcoholic offerings too. This is an increasing demand area and driver diners expect more choice today which Uig Sands covers. The whole food experience was delightful and literally faultless for us. The staff are chaty and knowledgeable about the food and about the local area, sharing tips for gems to visit around the bay.

Our dining experience here was superb and the three courses were well worth the price. We chose a bottle of Chablis which perfectly complemented the dishes we ate. The scallop that was part of my starter was the best I've ever tasted and every course was perfection. The pineapple dessert with mini 'doughnuts' was unexpected and divine. Excellent food and wonderful warm, friendly and unpretentious service is one thing, but the sunset view over stunning Uig Sands combined to result in a truly unforgettable meal. 3 courses for us both and a decent bottle of wine came in at £200, which for a special meal whilst on holiday, we thought was well worth it. When we return to Lewis & Harris we'll absolutely dine at Uig Sands Restaurant again.
