We checked their menu online and several menu items appeared to be vegan. However, when we got there, I only ended up with mushy peas. The server was kind enough to bring a couple of slices of bread, but I was left hungry and unhappy.

When you enter the restaurant, there is a line. We waited in line, assuming you had to place the order at the counter for take away. None of the items on the overhead board are marked as vegan or vegetarian. When our turn came, I asked them at the counter, and they said nothing was plant based or vegan. Even the chips are fried in the same oil as fish, so they are not vegan.

After much discussion, mushy peas were the only item they were willing to classify as vegan and willing to serve that to me. Then they said that if we are to dine in, we have to place the order at the table, so our wait in line had been wasted time.

They have a menu on the tables, and several items are marked vegetarian on the menu. However, the same server who had been at the counter, again insisted none of them were vegan as they use the same oil for frying fish. Mushy peas were the only item I could have. I did note that the prices were slightly higher on the table menu than in the takeaway billing I had seen.

The server was kind enough to bring a couple of slices of bread to add some bulk to my food.

If you're vegan, this might be a...

My first visit here while visiting Southport I had a traditional fish and chips takeaway with the largest onions rings ever ever seen. Then on my second visit with the family we decide to dine in,at the immaculate restaurant. There was a considerable variety of dishes available to suit most taste and dietary requirements and a good children's menu with a drink & ice cream included. I decided to try the fish pie even though I don't like smoked fish but I was glad I did, as it was delicious, my partner tried the steak pie which he said" was the best he had tasted in a while!". Yes I agree with others on it being a little pricey but I wouldnt call the food here the your average chip shop standard and I like that it is locally sourced, so for me I am happy to pay that little more and know I am getting good quality food that's also supporting other local businesses. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there is plenty of free parking available and the restaurant is...

If ever in Southport and fancy a trip to a local chip shop then look no further, you will love this place, just a couple of minutes drive from the sea front. It is worth grabbing whatever takes your fancy here then parking back at the sea front to enjoy the view.....and the wonderful food you've just acquired from this great chip shop. They have a restaurant area if you wish to eat in or if not and you're taking away then they will give you one of their pagers, wait in the comfort of your car for your turn to collect. The staff are great, so polite and quick and the prices aren't too bad, it is very popular so at times the only queuing will be to purchase the food, that unfortunately is the price for eating at a very...

This place used to be amazing but since Covid the chips or cooking oil seem to have changed and are not a patch on what they used to be, the pies are no longer Hollands and have changed to Wrights and the massive onion ring has disappeared from the plate unless you add to your order. It's as if it has changed hands in the last couple of years. They aren't bad meals, just not the brilliance they used to be. Disappointing sadly.
