Visited the Freshfield on the recommendation of family and friends. All in all, what a nice atmosphric place to relax, with an extreemly large selection of Beers, and a Very welcoming Staff. Sorry but I have to say that the food is letting the Freshfield down, we were a party of four, and only one of us actually ate their meal. First of all, when ordering Fish and Chips we were informed it was off the menu, (very suprising considering it was a Friday, and traditionaly a Fish and Chip Day). The Chicken Kiev was nothing like a Chicken Kiev, it was two thinly slices of chicken covered in breadcrumbs with a weak garlic butter topping, it was so overcooked and 'rock' hard and as dry as a desert. The same dissapointment with the Burger, that was so over cooked tastless and poorly presented. The Fish cakes were NO better, tasteless and again overcooked. The Food is a Big let down for such a nice Pub situated in a Fantasic Area. You have so much to offer, and deliver on the Social side BUT PLEASE.........try to improve your menu and offer the same Fantastic service, value and Care that you put into your Bar. it looks like the food side comes second to the bar and beers on offer. Sorry for bad review but felt...
Read moreWell we thought we should put a review on for the freshy, we have been coming now for about a year every month on a Friday, ( fish Friday) to see our friends who live in Formby and we live in Huyton. So we get the train from Liverpool and walk to the freshy from freshfield station. We love coming here it's great we get the drinks always lovely and cold pint of Moretti and cider , today's staff Friday 30th May 2025 were Kim ,Sandra and Josh -very friendly and great communicators always make us welcome. Food was great , all staff were making sure we're we ok and if everything was okay 👍. It was a bit quieter today at 13.30 all on the beach with the glorious sunshine. So all in all we love coming here and returning every month to see friends and a catch up about changing the world and having a laugh about stories. So thanks again Kim, Sandra and Josh it's well worth it and we will see you soon....
Read moreI was meeting friends for lunch. The pub was a great meeting place with plenty of large tables to accommodate us wherever we decided to sit. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portion sizes were very generous. Unfortunately my chicken salad was covered in a red sauce which I thought was red pepper but it was more like a chipotle sauce and was far too hot to enjoy. In hindsight, I should have taken it back, but with so many of us chatting away, I thought I had misread the menu and it was my mistake. It wasn't until I couldn't eat any more, as my mouth was on fire, did I ask to look at the menu. I did mention to the staff when they were clearing the table about the hot sauce and they were extremely apologetic and said I should've brought it back. It was my fault as I would've been able to eat it if I had. If I go again, I'll check the sauce and make sure it's edible. Lovely staff...
