Visited Formby beach and then here afterwards for something to eat. I selected this pub based on reviews as it looked fantastic. I must say, the service was was fast, the beer was cold and the food was brilliant. My only complaint is that we had a dog with us so you have to sit in one side of the pub (this is absolutely fine) but it was the side of the pub where the mens toilets are located. I cannot tell you how strong it smelled of urine, it was disgusting. Really off putting when eating a meal. I alerted the manager and she told me the issue is in hand and that it’s the drains. This could have been handled better as no apology offered and didn’t offer to solve the issue by moving us. To give you an idea of how bad the smell was, we was sat at the front of the pub and the toilets are located at the back and it was still a strong smell at that distance.

The Freshie is the place to be if you’re in the area. Excellent staff and service, excellent food and prices. It’s located just around the corner from the train staton, super easy to find. Clean, modern and very cosy. Whether you want to sit inside or out, have a meal, a pint or to watch the match - the freshie can accommodate all - Dogs are welcome too! They had an issue with the card machine, and for every pre-booked table, they phoned all the customers to make them aware of this before they arrived. Honestly just all round above and beyond! It’s also Klopp’s favourite local watering hole! LFC had an away game when we went, but we were lucky enough to have a photo with the legend Stevie G, so keep your eyes peeled for the local celebs!

Disappointing visit … Staff fantastic very friendly and accommodating - really nice pub I have been numerous times for food from the main menu and was great - However visited yesterday with family for a Sunday roast which was one of the worst roasts I’ve ever had 2 very small and tough overcooked pieces of beef and a Yorkshire pudding which turned to powder when cut into it (tasted like it had been made a long time ago and reheated or sat under a heat lamp for too long) asked for extra gravy but by the time it came out everyone had basically given up with the food - was edible but not great portion sizes either definitely not something ill be getting again. (Group of 6 spent around £300 including drinks over the afternoon).

Visited the Freshfield on the recommendation of family and friends. All in all, what a nice atmosphric place to relax, with an extreemly large selection of Beers, and a Very welcoming Staff. Sorry but I have to say that the food is letting the Freshfield down, we were a party of four, and only one of us actually ate their meal. First of all, when ordering Fish and Chips we were informed it was off the menu, (very suprising considering it was a Friday, and traditionaly a Fish and Chip Day). The Chicken Kiev was nothing like a Chicken Kiev, it was two thinly slices of chicken covered in breadcrumbs with a weak garlic butter topping, it was so overcooked and 'rock' hard and as dry as a desert. The same dissapointment with the Burger, that was so over cooked tastless and poorly presented. The Fish cakes were NO better, tasteless and again overcooked. The Food is a Big let down for such a nice Pub situated in a Fantasic Area. You have so much to offer, and deliver on the Social side BUT PLEASE.........try to improve your menu and offer the same Fantastic service, value and Care that you put into your Bar. it looks like the food side comes second to the bar and beers on offer. Sorry for bad review but felt...

Well we thought we should put a review on for the freshy, we have been coming now for about a year every month on a Friday, ( fish Friday) to see our friends who live in Formby and we live in Huyton. So we get the train from Liverpool and walk to the freshy from freshfield station. We love coming here it's great we get the drinks always lovely and cold pint of Moretti and cider , today's staff Friday 30th May 2025 were Kim ,Sandra and Josh -very friendly and great communicators always make us welcome. Food was great , all staff were making sure we're we ok and if everything was okay 👍. It was a bit quieter today at 13.30 all on the beach with the glorious sunshine. So all in all we love coming here and returning every month to see friends and a catch up about changing the world and having a laugh about stories. So thanks again Kim, Sandra and Josh it's well worth it and we will see you soon....

I was meeting friends for lunch. The pub was a great meeting place with plenty of large tables to accommodate us wherever we decided to sit. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portion sizes were very generous. Unfortunately my chicken salad was covered in a red sauce which I thought was red pepper but it was more like a chipotle sauce and was far too hot to enjoy. In hindsight, I should have taken it back, but with so many of us chatting away, I thought I had misread the menu and it was my mistake. It wasn't until I couldn't eat any more, as my mouth was on fire, did I ask to look at the menu. I did mention to the staff when they were clearing the table about the hot sauce and they were extremely apologetic and said I should've brought it back. It was my fault as I would've been able to eat it if I had. If I go again, I'll check the sauce and make sure it's edible. Lovely staff...
