Had the unfortunate experience of trying to eat here on Friday, our food arrived a starter of chicken wings were overcooked and burned, along with our starter our main arrived, my partner ordered a medium steak, what she actually got was an overcooked lump of grissle, my main was wrong, I don't place any blame on the waitress who was very helpful, we still hadn't ate our starter when my main arrived a Gyros platter, basically what I got was a burned platter of chips and various chillies, my partners replacement steak returned but was exactly the same overcooked lump of grissle, we decided at this point to leave, the worst food I have ever had, I shall not be going back, I'd suggest everyone give this place a very wide berth.

A generic chain pub, lacking real ale (Doom Bar only, plus lager, John Smiths, gin, cocktails, etc) and offering typical fare, including jerk chicken skewers, various nacho flavours, fish and chips, mixed grill. Experience was elevated by a friendly server, Jacqui, who arranged a bowl of chips while waiting, even though they were short staffed. Free parking and easy access.

Should have known not to order a sirloin steak but did - asked how I wanted it - stated ‘medium rare’ Took nearly forty minutes to come, it was so well done that the cow has been cooked for it’s next three afterlives. Tough as boots. Friend had fish n chips and was ok, so stick to pub grub familiarity if you order food.

Popped in early evening for a pup tea, and it’s probably one of the worst meals we have ever ate ,we ordered a sharing combo and scampi and chips. The scampi and chips were edible but The sharing combo was deep fried within an inch of it’s life in what looked like dirty oil and everything had the same taste , and the dips, the salsa the sweet chili and the garlic mayo had been heated up in roasting hot little plastic pots so the mayonnaise was like hot milk and the other 2 dips were boiling hot ,( they had probably been frozen and that’s how they were defrosting them) it Was absolutely disgusting and would never eat here again asked the bar staff for 2 side plates to share our food which never came, also asked the staff to change the dips which they did without questioning what was wrong with them , but the food was absolutely foul. It reminded me of deep fried old frozen food from a freezer but cooked in dirty oil, We tried to eat it because we were hungry, but left most and went home and cooked something.

We would’ve explained to the staff if they had bothered to come over to the table to take our plates away How disappointed we were with the food, but nobody bothered to come over so we...

There was only one person serving behind the bar and one person serving food. The bar was completely littered with empty glasses. We have visited the grapes a few times in the last few months, we like the atmosphere and the food is really good. We asked why there was a lack of staff and the answer was that the brewery would not give enough hours to potential future staff to make it worthwhile to work at the Grapes. We watched people leave when they noticed that there were upto six people waiting to be served and there was a one and a half hour wait for food. We find this disgraceful. MITCHELLS AND BUTLERS need to address the way the run this pub/restaurant before they lose all thier customers to another pub/restaurant three hundred yards away (The Nags Head) The manager worked really hard to keep the customers happy but we felt the pressure on him and the only person serving food...

Came in to the grapes at 8:20PM went to the bar to order food to get told that there not serving anymore food because “no staff” and the “kitchens closed” & “were too busy”, Well that’s no excuse because the food doesn’t stop getting served till 9PM & for the kitchen to be “closed” there’s food coming out the kitchen an still all menus on the table, for No staff on shift that’s not my problem. no matter how busy or low staff you have you should allways put the customers out there first, This has happened a few times where they’ve said we’ve stopped serving food & with a complaint to the manager we ended up being able to eat, but today there was no manager on shift only supervisor, we come here all the time and won’t be coming back to this place. Need to...
